Syed Osman Ali was the first Chartered accountant of Pakistan and a Pakistani banker who served as the seventh Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan. [1] [2]
Previously,he held served as the Federal Secretary in the Ministries of Industries,Commerce of Economic Affairs between 1959 and 1966,Executive Director of the World Bank in Washington between 1968 and 1972,and Pakistan Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg from 1966 to 1968. [3]
Osman Ali graduated in Economics and entered the Indian Civil Services in 1934.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is the central bank of Pakistan. Its Constitution,as originally laid down in the State Bank of Pakistan Order 1948,remained basically unchanged until 1 January 1974,when the bank was nationalised and the scope of its functions was considerably enlarged. The State Bank of Pakistan Act 1956,with subsequent amendments,forms the basis of its operations today. The headquarters are located in the financial capital of the country in Karachi. The bank has a fully owned subsidiary with the name SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC),the operational arm of the Central Bank with Branch Office in 16 cities across Pakistan,including the capital Islamabad and the four provincial capitals Lahore,Karachi,Peshawar,Quetta. The State Bank of Pakistan has other fully owned subsidiaries as well:National Institute of Banking and Finance,the training arm of the bank providing training to Commercial Banks,the Deposit Protection Corporation,and ownership of the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation.
Shakirullah Khan Durrani was a Pakistani banker who served as the managing director of Pakistan International Airlines and Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan. His daughter Tehmina Durrani is a wife of former chief minister of Punjab and current Prime Minister of Pakistan,Shehbaz Sharif.
Zahid Husain was the founder and the first governor of State Bank of Pakistan from June 1948 to July 1953. He also served as Pakistan's first High Commissioner to India from August 1947 to April 1948.

The current State Bank of Pakistan Museum &Art Gallery building,previously the Imperial Bank of India,is a Greco Roman building in Jodhpuri Red Sandstone constructed in the 1920s by the British government. In 2004,the State Bank of Pakistan decided to adapt the building as a museum;work on the projects started in 2006 and was devoted to conservation of the building and acquisition of the collection.

Roshan Digital Account (RDA) (Urdu روشنڈیجیٹلاکاؤنٹ) is a facility available to non-resident Pakistanis,this facility allows Pakistani nationals living abroad to have access to banking services within Pakistan without having to visit a consulate,embassy,or a physical bank branch. The initiative was launched by the government of Imran Khan,who inaugurated the programme in September 2020. Toward the end of August 2021,RDA deposits had exceeded $2 billion.
