Tariq Bajwa is a retired Pakistani civil servant who served in BPS-22 grade as the Finance Secretary and Economic Affairs Secretary of Pakistan. [1] Bajwa also served as the 19th Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and the 20th Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue. [2] He is the only Pakistani who won the Littauer fellowship at Harvard University. He also received a master's degree in Public Administration from the same institution. Bajwa is batchmates with Shehzad Arbab, Sajjad Saleem Hotiana and Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad.

Career

Bajwa served as the Governor of the State Bank from 7 July 2017 up till he was asked to resign from the post on 3 May 2019. [3] Prior to this, he served as a civil servant belonging to the Pakistan Administrative Service. [4] He served as the Economic Affairs Secretary of Pakistan from November 2015 to February 2017, and as Finance Secretary of Pakistan from February 2017 to July 2017. [5] He also remained the chairman of Federal Board of Revenue from July 2013 to October 2015. [6]

He also previously served as Finance Secretary to the Government of Punjab and as Head of Pakistan’s Trade Mission in Los Angeles. [7]

Shamshad Akhtar

Shamshad Akhtar is a Pakistani development economist, diplomat and intellectual who served as the caretaker Finance Minister of Pakistan. Prior to that, she served as the 14th Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the first woman to assume this position. Grade 22

Grade 22 is the highest attainable rank and pay scale for a civil servant in Pakistan. Grade 22 is equal to a 4-star rank of the Pakistan Armed Forces. With over five thousand civil servants and bureaucrats in Pakistan, only a few dozen officers serve in BPS-22 grade at a given time. Hence, not even 2% of the country's civil servants make it to the highest basic pay scale of grade 22. Officers serving in BPS-22 grade are largely considered to be one of the most influential individuals in the country.

Previously, he served in BPS-22 grade as the Cabinet Secretary of Pakistan, Chief Secretary Balochistan and Maritime Secretary. He also served as ECP Secretary and Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan. He belongs to the Pakistan Administrative Service and is batchmates with Shehzad Arbab, Tariq Bajwa and Sajjad Saleem Hotiana.

Kamran Rasool is a retired Pakistani civil servant belonging to the Pakistan Administrative Service who served in BPS-22 grade as the Cabinet Secretary of Pakistan, Chief Secretary Punjab and later on as the Defence Secretary of Pakistan. Rasool was considered to be one of the most influential civil servants during the era of General Pervez Musharraf. Rasool was promoted to the rank of Federal Secretary in May 2003.
