Sylke Zimpel (born 10 September 1959) is a German composer, choral conductor and lecturer.
Born in Dresden, Zimpel studied at the Cottbus conservatory from 1971 to 1978. She then studied composition at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden with Karl-Rudi Griesbach and Wilfried Krätzschmar until 1983. She studied further at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, Weimar, with Jürgen Puschbeck from 1990 to 1993, followed by a year of studies in choral conducting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon with Nicole Corti-Lyant and Bernard Tétu.
She founded in 1986 the chorbühne TRITONUS (Choral stage tritone), and has conducted its choir. The ensemble achieved awards for performances of staged musical programs. In 1995, she founded the women's choir called femmes vocales, which she has also conducted.
As a composer, she focused on choral works for mixed choirs and women's choirs, including arrangements of folksongs from Eastern Europe including several Yiddish songs.
The Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin in Berlin, Germany, is one of the leading universities of music in Europe. It was established in East Berlin in 1950 as the Deutsche Hochschule für Musik because the older Hochschule für Musik Berlin was in West Berlin. After the death of one of its first professors, composer Hanns Eisler, the school was renamed in his honor in 1964. After a renovation in 2005, the university is located in both Berlin's famed Gendarmenmarkt and the Neuer Marstall.
Johannes Wolfgang Zender was a German conductor and composer. He was the chief conductor of several opera houses, and his compositions, many of them vocal music, have been performed at international festivals.

Max Beckschäfer is a German organist, composer and academic who taught at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München and the Hochschule für Musik Augsburg-Nürnberg. He received commissions from the Munich Biennale, the concert series Klangspuren, the Dresdner Kreuzchor, the Palucca-Ballettschule Dresden and Die Singphoniker. He wrote an organ version of Reger's Hebbel-Requiem.
Renate Maria Birnstein is a German composer, violinist and pianist. She was born in Hamburg, and studied at the Hochschule fur Musik with Diether de la Motte and György Ligeti, receiving her diploma in composition and piano in 1973.

Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media is a university of performing arts and media in Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, Germany. Dating to 1897, it has reorganised and changed names as it developed over the years, most recently in 2010 when it changed from State College of Music and Drama Hanover. Since 2010, its president has been Susanne Rode-Breymann. As of 2021, the university has 1,484 students and a total of 477 staff.

Alfred Koerppen was a German organist, music pedagogue, composer and academic teacher. He taught composition and music theory at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover from 1948 to 1991. His compositions focus on choral music with and without accompaniment, but he also wrote symphonies, chamber music and stage works.
