The Women's duet event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, took place at the Aquatics Centre from 5 to 7 August. [1] [2]

The preliminary phase consisted of a technical routine and a free routine. The scores from the two routines were added together and the top 12 duets qualified for the final.

The final consisted of one free routine, the score from the final free routine was added to the score from the preliminary technical routine to decide the overall winners. [3]

Synchronized swimming Hybrid form of swimming, dance and gymnastics

Synchronised swimming or artistic swimming is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music. The sport is governed internationally by FINA. It is traditionally a women's sport, although FINA introduced a new mixed duet competition at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships that included male swimmers.

Synchronized swimming at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Womens duet

The women's duet synchronized swimming event at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held from August 18 to 20, at the Beijing National Aquatics Center.

The women's duet competition of the synchronized swimming events at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara were held from October 18 to October 20, at the Scotiabank Aquatics Center. The defending Pan American Champion is the duet from the United States.

The Duet routine competition of the synchronised swimming at the 2012 European Aquatics Championships was held on May 23 with the technical and May 24 with the free routine preliminaries. The final was held on May 27.

Synchronized swimming at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Womens team

The women's team event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, took place at the Aquatics Centre from 9 to 10 August. Russia maintained its dominance in the sport, as the team delivered a nearly perfect, complex choreography for another gold medal at its fourth consecutive Olympics, having received a powerful, composite score of 197.030 by the judges. Meanwhile, the Chinese squad resisted the challenge from Spain on a historical breakthrough to add a silver in the event with 194.010, edging the Spaniards out of the pool to accept the bronze for a total score of 193.120.

Bianca Hammett is an Australian synchronized swimmer. Taking up the sport at the age of eight and joining Australia's National Team in 2006, Hammett has represented Australia internationally in synchronised swimming since 2007. Hammett is a dual Olympian, having competed for Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics, held in London, and the 2016 Summer Olympics, held in Rio de Janeiro. Yukiko Inui Japanese synchronized swimmer

Yukiko Inui is a Japanese competitor in synchronised swimming.
