Anastasia Gloushkov (Hebrew : אנסטסיה גלושקוב, Russian : Анастасия Глушкова; born May 24, 1985) is an Israeli Olympic synchronized swimmer. [1]

Biography

Gloushkov is Jewish, and was born in Moscow, Soviet Union. [1] [2] Her parents were both accomplished swimmers, and when she was six the family moved to Greece, where her parents taught swimming. [3] Three years later, they moved to Jerusalem. [3]

Her mother, Tatiana Tsym, coaches the Israeli synchronized swimming team, which trains in Jerusalem. [3] [4] [5] Gloushkov and her fiancé live in the Jerusalem suburb of Moshav Shoresh, and she is studying for a bachelor's degree in social sciences and human resources at Achva College of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. [3]

Synchronized swimming career

She won a bronze medal in synchronized swimming at the 1996 Belgium Open, and was fourth at the 1998 Youth Olympic Games. [6] At the 2000 Mediterranean Games in Jerusalem, at the age of 15 she won gold medals in both the singles and the duet events. [4] [6] In 2003, she won a bronze medal at the European Youth Championship. [7]

At the 2004 European Championships, she finished 10th in singles and she and her partner Inna Yoffe finished 9th in duet. [6] Gloushkov competed on behalf of Israel at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, in the synchronized swimming duet, in which she came in 17th at the age of 19, along with Yoffe. [1] [4]

Gloushkov competed on behalf of Israel at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, in the synchronized swimming duet, in which she and Yoffe came in 15th. [1] At the 2010 European Championships in Budapest, Hungary, she was 4th in the solo event, and 7th in the duet. [8] [9]

She and Yoffe placed 14th in the synchronized swimming technical duets competition in the 2011 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Shanghai, China. [10] Gloushkov also finished 10th in the technical solo competition. [10] The pair qualified to represent Israel at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, finishing in 17th place. [1] [11]

However in June 2015 Mengual announced that she would return to competition with the aim of competing at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia, in the mixed duet with Pau Ribas, whom she had previously coached. Although she had previously indicated that she would not compete beyond the World Championships, in September of that year she confirmed via social media that she would compete in the duet in the 2016 Summer Olympics with Ona Carbonell.

She went on to win gold medals in the Pan-American Games in 2003, before returning to her third and final Olympics in Athens, where she won two bronze medals.

Kanako Spendlove is a Japanese-American synchronized swimmer who competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics for Japan, and won a silver medal.

Anastasia "Nastiya" Gorbenko is an Israeli competitive swimmer. She competes in the backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and medley. She has won 8 World and European championships gold medals, competed at 2 Olympic finals, broken most of the Israeli national records for women and mixed relays, and is considered to be Israel's greatest swimmer of all time. In February 2024, Gorbenko won a silver medal at the Doha World Championships in the women's 400 meters individual medley. Gorbenko represented Israel at the 2024 Summer Olympics in swimming in the 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 200m individual medley, 400m individual medley, 4x200m freestyle relay, and mixed 4x100m medley relay.

Shelly Bobritsky is an Israeli Olympic swimmer who competes in Artistic swimming. She competed in the 2020 Olympics in duet, was the European Champion in the free combination event in 2023, and was a three-time European medalist as well as a two-time European Cup bronze medalist. Bobritsky represented Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics in artistic swimming women's duet with Ariel Nassee, and the pair came in 11th.
