A geographic coordinate system is a coordinate system that enables every location on Earth to be specified by a set of numbers, letters or symbols. Sørlandet Hospital Kristiansand (Norwegian:Sørlandet Sykehus Kristiansand) is located in Kristiansand, Vest-Agder County in Norway, and is one of the three public hospitals within the Hospital of Southern Norway and is a regional hospital. It was previously called Kristiansand Sentralsykehus and was located in Tordenskjoldsgate in Kvadraturen (the city center).

It is the fifth largest city in Norway and the municipality is the sixth largest in Norway, with a population of 88,598 as of June 2016. In addition to the city itself, Statistics Norway counts four other densely populated areas in the municipality: Skålevik in Flekkerøy with a population of 3,526 in the Vågsbygd borough, Strai with a population of 1,636 in the Grim borough, Justvik with a population of 1,803 in the Lund borough, and Tveit with a population of 1,396 in the Oddernes borough. Kristiansand is divided into five boroughs: Grim, which is located northwest in Kristiansand with a population of 15,000; Kvadraturen, which is the centre and downtown Kristiansand with a population of 5,200; Lund, the second largest borough; Oddernes, a borough located in the west; and Vågsbygd, the largest borough with a population of 36,000, located in the southwest.

Most of the hospital moved to Eg, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) north of downtown in the 1980s, where there already was a psychiatric hospital (Eg Hospital). The departments of general medicine and psychiatry were merged into one unit after the move.

The hospital has modern facilities and is centralized geographically with full clinical, surgical, medical and psychiatric procedures and treatment-related deals. The hospital offers both emergency medical care and outpatient treatment. [1]

There are maternity clinic, psychiatric treatment and inpatient care, substance abuse- and addiction treatment and an ambulance station and helipad [2] at Eg. Mental Health Clinic - psychiatry and addiction treatment has limited psychiatric treatment for adults in Kristiansand and Arendal. [3]
