Dr. T. T. Sreekumar is an Indian writer, orator, social and literary critic, and political analyst. He is a professor at the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, and serves as the Director of the Educational Multimedia Research Center (EMRC). [1] [2] Sreekumar is a bilingual author with published works in Malayalam and English and has written a fortnightly column in the Malayalam daily Madhyamam since 2014.

Education

Sreekumar completed an M.Phil. in Applied Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi, and earned his Ph.D. in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). [3]

Career

Sreekumar began his academic career in 1996 as a lecturer at the Institute of Management in Government, Thiruvananthapuram. He later served as a doctoral instructor at HKUST before joining the National University of Singapore as faculty in 2004. From 2013 to 2016, he was a professor and chair of the Fellows Program and Head of Digital Communications at MICA , Ahmedabad. In 2017, he joined the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at EFLU as a professor. [4]

His research focuses on topics such as Asian modernity, [1] development, e-governance, [5] mobile ecology, and rural network societies. He critically examines the sociopolitical implications of information technology and new media. His book ICTs and Development in India: Perspectives on the Rural Network Society explores the limitations of ICT4D (Information and Communication Technologies for Development) in neoliberal contexts. Writings

Sreekumar is a prolific writer in both English and Malayalam. His books in Malayalam cover a wide range of topics, including postmodernism, history, modernity, and sociopolitical critiques. He is also the author of several works in English, including ICTs and Development in India: Perspectives on the Rural Network Society and Urban Process in Kerala: 1900–1981. His regular columns in Madhyamam provide critical perspectives on the sociopolitical environment in Kerala.

Awards

In 2020, Sreekumar received the C. B. Kumar Endowment Award from the Kerala Sahitya Academy for his book Vayanayum Prathirodhavum (Reading and Resistance). [7]

He was a recipient of several honours including Sahitya Akademi Award, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry, Vayalar Award and Odakkuzhal Award.

Parutholli Chalappurathu Kuttikrishnan, popularly known by his pen name Uroob was an Indian writer of Malayalam literature. Along with Basheer, Thakazhi, Kesavadev, and Pottekkatt, Uroob was counted among the progressive writers in Malayalam during the twentieth century. He was known for his novels such as Sundarikalum Sundaranmarum and Ummachu, short stories like Rachiyamma and the screenplays of a number of Malayalam films including Neelakuyil, the first Malayalam feature film to receive the National Film Award. He was a recipient of several honours including Kendra Sahithya Academy Award and the inaugural Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Novel.

Kunjunni, popularly known as Kunjunni Mash, was an Indian poet of Malayalam literature. Known for his short poems with a philosophical overtone, his works were popular among children as well as adults. Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Children's Literature, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions.

D. Vinayachandran was an Indian Malayalam poet. He is one of the proponents of modern style of prose in Malayalam poetry. He was born in West Kallada, Kollam district and has worked as a Malayalam professor in various colleges for more than thirty years. He had his early education in schools in and around Kallada. After completing his master's in Malayalam literature from Government Sanskrit College, Pattambi, he entered the collegiate education service as a lecture and worked in various government colleges across Kerala. He joined the faculty of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, in 1991 and retired from University's School of Letters in 2006.

N. V. Krishna Warrier was an Indian poet, journalist, scholar, academic and political thinker. A prolific writer, Warrier's works covered the genres of poetry, drama, travelogue, translation, children's literature and science. He was a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry. The Kerala Sahitya Akademi honoured him with their fellowship in 1986, three years before his death in 1989.

N. P. Mohammed, popularly known by his initials N. P., was an Indian novelist, short story writer and screenwriter of Malayalam language. Along with his contemporaries like M. T. Vasudevan Nair, O. V. Vijayan, Kakkanadan, and Madhavikutty, he was known to have been one of the pioneers of modernist movement in Malayalam fiction. Olappamanna Mana Subramanian Namboothirippad, better identified by his family name, Olappamanna, was an Indian poet of Malayalam literature. A former chairman of Kerala Kalamandalam and an author of 20 books of poetry, his poems were noted for their explicit social expressions. He received two awards from Kerala Sahitya Academy and another from Kendra Sahitya Academy, besides honours such as Government of Madras Poetry Prize, Odakkuzhal Award, N. V. Jyothibai Pariyadath is a poet, translator, transcriber and blogger in Malayalam language from Palakkad, Kerala, India. Born on 26 April 1965 in Nemmara village in Palakkad district, as seventh child of Anthikkaad Puzhukoloth Krishna Panicker and Nemmara Pariyadath Sathybhama Amma. She did her studies at Pazhayagramam GLP School, Govt.Girls high school Nemmara and NSS college Nemmara. She Completed her graduation in Chemistry and post graduation in sociology and Malayalam. She is Married to Kunduveettil Janardhananan.

C. R. Rajagopalan was an Indian writer, teacher and environmental activist from Kerala. Rajagopalan worked for the monitoring and preservation of folklore and tribal culture. He has written several books on heritage and folklore studies. He received awards from Kerala Folklore Academy and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi.

K. P. Sudheera is a Malayalam language writer from Kerala, India. She has published 86works in various genres, including novels, poetry, travelogues, biographies, memoirs, translations, letters, and children's literature. Many of her works have been translated to Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages. Kerala Sahitya Akademi has honoured Sudheera in 2022 awarding her Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions.

S. Sivadas is an Indian children's writer in Malayalam. He is the author of around 200 books which include popular science, contemporary ecology, short stories, novels and other fictional stories with an emphasis on scientific outlook. He was a chemistry professor at CMS College Kottayam. He is a three-time recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award.
