The Ceylon Communist Party (Maoist) is a political party in Sri Lanka. The party surged in 1964 following a split in the Ceylon Communist Party. Initially the party just called itself 'Ceylon Communist Party' as well, and was distinguished from the main CCP in Sri Lanka by denominations like 'Ceylon Communist Party (Peking Wing)', etc. In the end of the 1960s the party was one of the major leftist parties in the country. A mass murder of police officers took place on 11 June 1990. Members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant organization, are alleged to have killed over 600 unarmed Sri Lanka Police officers in Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. Some accounts have estimated the number killed as high as 774.

Mohammed Wasim Thajudeen was a Sri Lankan rugby union player who played for Havelock Sports Club and the national team. Thajudeen was killed in a car crash which was initially pronounced to be an accident but is currently being investigated as a murder.

Sonduru Dadabima (A Pleasurable Hunt) (Sinhala: සොඳුරු දඩබිම) is a 2003 Sri Lankan Sinhala drama thriller film directed by Anura Horatious and produced by W. A. S. K. Samarawickrema for Sadheera Films. It stars Sanath Wimalasiri and Dilhani Ekanayake in lead roles along with Tony Ranasinghe and Rex Kodippili. Music composed by Premasiri Khemadasa. It is the 1015th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema. The film has been shot in and around Colombo.
Dharmayuddhaya is a 2017 Sri Lankan Sinhala-language crime thriller film directed by Cheyyar Ravi and produced by MTV Channel and The Capital Maharaja Organization Limited, and distributed by M Entertainments. It is a shot-for-shot remake of the Indian Malayalam-language film Drishyam (2013) starring Mohanlal by Jeethu Joseph. The film stars Jackson Anthony and Dilhani Ekanayake in the lead roles and features Kusum Renu, Kumara Thirimadura, Thisuri Yuwanika and Roshan Pilapitiya in supporting roles. The music was composed by Sachith Peris.
Derana Film Awards is an award bestowed to distinguished individuals involved with the Sri Lanka's silver screen, each year by the TV Derana, Sri Lanka in recognition of the contributions made by them to the Sri Lankan cinema industry and cinema achievements. The 2017–18 SLC Twenty20 Tournament was a Twenty20 cricket tournament that was held in Sri Lanka. It was played between domestic teams in Sri Lanka, with the tournament starting on 24 February 2018 and concluding on 8 March 2018. The matches were used as preparation for the 2018 Nidahas Trophy.
The 2004 SLC Twenty20 Tournament is the 1st season of the official Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Sri Lanka. 15 teams in total, five representing four provinces of Sri Lanka and a Sri Lanka Schools XI team participating in the competition. The competition began on 17 August 2004, when Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club played the Police Sports Club at Colts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo.
Wilson Karunaratne, popularly known as Wilson Karu was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, and stunt director. Considered one of the best villains in Sinhala cinema, Karunaratne acted in more than 240 films across many genres primarily as main antagonist.
