The TVR Tuscan was a front engine, rear wheel drive sports car built by TVR from 1967 to 1971 in the company's Blackpool, England factory. It was the second car developed by TVR during the Martin Lilley era of the automotive firm.
The car was made available in both a V8 and a V6 format, with a total of 174 cars built between the two available engine formats.

In early 1967, the first Tuscans were made, available with only the V8 engine. Recalling the performance potential of the Grantura-based Griffith, it was based on the Grantura/Vixen and was built in three different configurations between January 1967 and early 1971. The engine was a 289 cu in (4,728 cc) Ford Windsor V8, similar to that available in early Ford Mustangs. The motor was equipped with a Ford 4-barrel carburetor, made 271 hp, and was capable of propelling the car to a top speed of 155 mph. [1] Stopping power came from disc brakes in the front and the rear. Production of the V8 models dwindled after the release of the V6, and was discontinued altogether in 1970. In total, 73 cars were sold by TVR with a V8. Most of the Tuscan V8s were sold in the United States, with only the occasional vehicle being built with right-hand drive for the home market.
It was originally available in a short-wheelbase form with Vixen-style bodywork, looking very much like a Series IV Grantura 1800S aside from its prominent bonnet bulge. [2] Approximately twenty-four were built. The SWB style was essentially identical to the V8-powered Griffith, which was discontinued in early 1967 as a result of the reputation it had gained for issues with build quality and reliability. The LWB car arrived a little later and used the same long-wheelbase chassis as the Vixen S2, and the same method of bolting the body to the chassis. [3] About another two dozen of these LWB Tuscan V8s were built until production ended in 1969.
1970 saw the introduction of the widebody Tuscan V8 (LWB SE), which featured a restyled body shell that gave a preview to the upcoming M-series body style. The widebody Tuscan was powered by the larger 302 cu in (4,942 cc) version of the small block Ford V8, and, although estimates vary, it appears that approximately ten widebody cars were built between 1970 and 1971. The V8 SE also had wider, hooded taillights mounted at a reverse rake.

In mid-1969, to provide a car at an intermediate level of performance, TVR released the Tuscan V6. [4] Equipped with a 2994 cc OHV Ford Essex V6 motor, which came from Ford's British division (also used in the Ford Zodiac Mk IV and Ford Capri). The brakes were changed from the V8 model, as only the front used discs, and the rear had drum brakes. [5] The V6 model was also narrower, using the same bodyshell as the TVR Vixen but with provision of an access panel above the rear differential, and a round tubular frame chassis similar to the TVR Vixen but with some upgrades. It did, however, receive the same Salisbury differential as the Tuscan V8. [4] The 3.0 L V6 powerplant produced 138 hp, and 182 lb/ft of torque equipped with a twin choke synchronous Weber 40DFAV carburetor and the car was able to reach speeds of 125 mph. At the time it was offered for sale, the Essex V6 did not meet emissions requirements in the United States, so the Tuscan V6 was not exported there although at least one car was sent into the US masquerading as a TVR Vixen. [3] Most of the cars produced were right-hand-drive, for the home market. [6] There were a total of 101 V6 cars produced including a prototype before the line was stopped altogether to make way for its successor, the TVR Vixen 2500.
TVR is a British manufacturer of high-end sports cars. The company manufactures lightweight sports cars with powerful engines and was, at one time, the third-largest specialised sports car manufacturer in the world, offering a diverse range of coupés and convertibles.
Allard Motor Company Limited was a London-based low-volume car manufacturer founded in 1945 by Sydney Allard in small premises in Clapham, south-west London. Car manufacture almost ceased within a decade. It produced approximately 1900 cars before it became insolvent and ceased trading in 1958. Before the war, Allard supplied some replicas of a Bugatti-tailed special of his own design from Adlards Motors in Putney.

The TVR Tuscan Speed Six is a sports car which was manufactured by British automobile manufacturer TVR from 1999 to 2006. The name pays homage to the original Tuscan which was introduced in 1967.
The Mazda Bongo, also known as Mazda E-Series, Mazda Access, and the Ford Econovan, is a van and pickup truck manufactured by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Mazda since 1966, in a cabover configuration except for the Friendee variant. It has been built with rear-, middle-, as well as front-mounted engines. It also formed the basis for the long running Kia Bongo range. It is named for the African Bongo, a type of antelope.

They were replaced by the 275 and 330 series cars.
The Clan Crusader is a fibreglass monocoque British sports car based on running gear from the Hillman Imp Sport, including its Coventry Climax derived, rear-mounted 875 cc engine. It was first made in Washington, Co Durham, England between 1971 and 1974, but since then several efforts have been made to bring the car back to production. Plans were made by Martin Phaff to re-resurrect the Clan in 2009, but nothing seems to have come of the project so far.
The Bentley Turbo R is a high-performance automobile which was produced by Bentley Motors Limited from 1985 to 1999. The "R" stood for "roadholding", to set it apart from its predecessor. It initially inherited the turbocharged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo and also sported a retuned suspension and wider tires on alloy wheels, a first for a Bentley. From the 1987 model year, however, the Turbo R's V8 engine was retuned with fuel injection for added torque. Motor Trend called the Turbo R "the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name" in their review of the car on its introduction to the United States in 1989.
The TVR Griffith, later models being referred to as the Griffith 500, is a sports car designed and built by TVR, starting production in 1991, and ending production in 2002. The Griffith name appeared again on a sports car introduced under a revived TVR brand in 2017.
The Range Rover Classic is a 4x4, mid-size Sport utility vehicle series produced from 1969 to 1996 – initially by the Rover division of British Leyland, and latterly by the Rover Group. The first generation of vehicles produced under the Range Rover name, it was built as a two-door model for its first 11 years, until a four-door also became available in 1981. The two-door version remained available until 1994, the year when the second generation was launched. At that time, Land Rover rebranded the original Range Rover under the newly coined term "Range Rover Classic", to distinguish it from its P38A successor, when the two were briefly built alongside, and applied the name retrospectively to all first-generation Range Rovers.
The TVR Grantura is the first production model in a long line of TVR cars. It debuted in 1958 and went through a series of developments leading to the Mark I to Mark IV and 1800S models. The last ones were made in September 1967.

The TVR Griffith 200 was a lightweight fibreglass-body sports car. In the United States, the make was Griffith and the model was Griffith Series 200, whilst the United Kingdom the make was TVR and the model was Griffith 200.
The TVR Tamora is a 2-seater sports car built from 2002 by British automobile manufacturer TVR, filling the gap left by the company's Chimaera and Griffith models. Introduced at the 2000 Birmingham Motor Show, the car is named after Tamora, a character in William Shakespeare's play Titus Andronicus and served as an entry-level model in the TVR range. Peter Wheeler was no longer directly responsible for design and the car was designed by a team led by Damian McTaggart, but Wheeler still had final approval.
The TVR Typhon is a sports car produced by the British car manufacturer TVR in their factory in Blackpool between 2000 and 2006. It is the fastest production TVR ever built. Only three were ever built. All are currently in England.
The TVR Tasmin is a sports car designed by TVR and built in the United Kingdom by that company from 1980 to 1987. It was the first of TVR's "Wedge"-series which formed the basis of its 1980's model range. The Tasmin/280i was available as a 2-seater coupé, as a 2+2 coupé and as a 2-seater convertible.
The TVR M series is a line of sports cars built by automaker TVR between 1972 and 1979. The series replaced the outgoing TVR Vixen and Tuscan models, and is characterized by a common chassis and shared body style. As with other TVR models before and since, the M-series cars use a front mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and body-on-frame construction. The bodies themselves were built from glass-reinforced plastic (GRP). The era of the M series is commonly associated with Martin Lilley who, together with his father, took ownership of the company on 30 November 1965.
The TVR Vixen is a hand-built sports car which was produced by TVR and in Blackpool, England from 1967 until 1973. Ford-engined in most of its configurations, it succeeded the MGB-engined TVR Grantura 1800S. It is also the basis for the high-performance TVR Tuscan which was available in both V6 and V8 configurations.
The Jensen S-type was a car built by Jensen Motors from 1936 until 1941 as both a saloon and a convertible. It was the firm's first volume production car, based on Ford V8 engines from the United States, and chassis parts from Ford of Britain sourced through M B K Motors. The car was built on a steel chassis and used aluminium for the body panels. The car was sold with either a 2,227 cc or a 3,622 cc Ford flathead V8 engine, equipped with two downdraft carburetors, Vertex ignition, and a Columbia overdrive rear axle. The cars were available in three body styles: 2-door convertible, 3-door tourer, and 4-door saloon.
