Taavi Vartia

Taavi Vartia (born 9 November 1965, in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish Film director, script writer and writer. Taavi Vartia has since 1990 planned, directed and produced programmes for all of Finland's national television channels: YLE TV1, YLE TV2, MTV3 and Nelonen, across a range of genres including drama, entertainment, music, profiles and documentaries. He has been involved in the production of over 1100 episodes. Vartia has also written and directed several company- and image videos for Finnish companies. In recent years he has received recognition as a writer of young adult dramas and as a documentary film maker. Vartia has published four novels. [1] Vartia founded Taaborin kesäteatteri/ Taabori Summer Theater in Nurmijärvi [2] 2009 and started to run the movie theatre Kino Juha [3] 2019.

Taavi Vartia has directed numerous plays for the whole family at the Taaborin kesätetatteri/ Taabor Summer Theater, which he founded in 2009. The summer theater is based in Taaborinvuori, Nurmijärvi, Finland.

<i>Salatut elämät</i>

Salatut elämät is a Finnish television soap opera that premiered on MTV3 on 25 January 1999. The series' storylines follow the daily lives of several families who live in the same apartment block in Helsinki. The series primarily centres on the residents of Pihlajakatu and its neighbouring areas. Only six of the original twenty characters Ismo, Kalle, Ulla, Aki, Kari and Elina still remain in the series, and most of the series' current characters have made their debuts in 2014 or later. Ismo is the only character who has never left the series.

Vesa-Matti Loiri Finnish actor, musician and comedian (1945–2022)

Vesa-Matti "Vesku" Loiri was a Finnish actor, musician and comedian, best known for his role as Uuno Turhapuro, whom he portrayed in a total of 20 movies between the years 1973 and 2004.

Rölli (sometimes called Rollo in English is a character from Finnish television portrayed by Allan "Allu" Tuppurainen. The character originally appeared in segments on the children's TV show Pikku Kakkonen on YLE's Channel 2 in 1986. Original episodes were produced until 2001 and older episodes have been seen in constant reruns on the program. In these segments, Rölli would tell stories of his amazing adventures while often criticising and questioning public norm or the activities of people.

Peter von Bagh Finnish film historian

Kari Peter Conrad von Bagh was a Finnish film historian and director. Von Bagh worked as the head of the Finnish Film Archive. He was the editor-in-chief of Filmihullu magazine and co-founder and director of the Midnight Sun Film Festival. Since 2001, he had been the artistic director of the film festival Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna. Von Bagh was a member of the jury in the competition category of 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

Mervi Pohjanheimo

Mervi Pohjanheimo is a Finnish and television director and producer. She has directed and produced TV entertainment shows for a Finnish television network called Oy Mainos-TV-Reklam Ab, later MTV3, since the late 1970s.

PlusTV

PlusTV was a Finnish digital terrestrial television distributor owned by Finnish telecommunications company DNA. It is one of two pay television distributors in the Finnish terrestrial network, the other being Canal Digital.

Venla was a Finnish television award. It was awarded annually between 1982 and 2010, after which it was replaced by the Golden Venla gala and award.

Jenni Vartiainen Finnish pop singer (born 1983)

Jenni Mari Vartiainen is a Finnish pop singer. Before her professional musical endeavours, she was a figure skater in her teenage years and attended the Kuopio Senior High of Music and Dance. Vartiainen rose to publicity by winning the Finnish talent show Popstars in October 2002 with Susanna Korvala, Ushma Karnani and Jonna Pirinen. The four formed the band Gimmel that released three studio albums, sold over 160,000 records and received three Emma Awards, accolades for outstanding achievements in music, awarded by the Finnish music industry federation, Musiikkituottajat. The band broke up in October 2004.

The Tangomarkkinat is the world's oldest tango festival. It is held early every July in Seinäjoki, Finland. As well as competitions to find the country's best tango singers, composers, and dancers, the festival features public dancing to live music provided by the best Finnish entertainers. Music for public dancing is not restricted to tango: it includes all the dance rhythms popular in Finland: but tango content must, according to the rules, be at least 40%.

Talent Suomi is the Finnish version of the Got Talent format of the program and airs on Nelonen. The idea behind the programme is to search for the most talented and promising entertainment. Talent contest took off for the first time in Finland at the end of September 2007. The programme was originally hosted by Susanna Laine and Martin Coulter and had contemporary magazine editor Katja Ståhl, television presenter and film director Timo Koivusalo, as well as the Finnish National Ballet dancer and choreographer Sami Saikkonen as judges. The prize was €30,000

Ailamari Vehviläinen

Ailamari Vehviläinen is a Finnish singer. She first came to fame as a tango singer; she extended her repertoire to include evergreens, Finnish pop, musical theatre, and sacred music; but after what was described as one of the most disgraceful episodes to besmirch Finnish television, she has disappeared from the public gaze.

<i>Madventures</i> (Finnish TV program)

Madventures is a Finnish travel documentary television program that concentrates on backpacking in the most off-the-beaten-path destinations on the planet. It is presented by Riku Rantala and Tuomas "Tunna" Milonoff. As the show's director and cameramen, they travel around the world exploring different cultures. They emphasize that they are on a journey, not on a holiday. The show often features local practices that are culturally unacceptable or controversial where the episodes air, to the point where the showmakers have been accused of deliberate, excessive use of shock imagery.

Eino Grön, born January 31, 1939, is a Finnish American singer known for his performance of a wide range of popular music styles, including Tango, jazz, and spiritual music. Grön was born at the island of Reposaari in Pori but has lived the last 30 years mainly in Palm Beach, Florida.

Erika Vikman is a Finnish singer and songwriter. Beginning her career as a Finnish tango singer, Vikman first received recognition after winning Tangomarkkinat in 2016. She later received further nationwide attention following the release of the single "Cicciolina" in 2020, which became her first top five hit in Finland.

Maria Veitola Finnish journalist

Maria Aleksandra Veitola is a Finnish journalist, screenwriter, talk show host and TV and radio host. She is one of the most prominent figures in Finnish entertainment and has appeared in multiple TV shows on commercial channels MTV3 and Nelonen.

<i>Finders of the Lost Yacht</i> Finnish film from 2021

Finders of the Lost Yacht is a Finnish film written and directed by Taavi Vartia. The film draws inspiration from the Finnish children's book series Pertsa ja Kilu by Väinö Riikkilä and specifically from the novel Viimeiset kaanit. The film follows the adventures of two best friends, Pertsa and Kilu, as they embark on a search for a lost treasure while trying to evade a robber.
