Tafa Air was a failed low-cost airline project based in Tirana, Albania, focusing on Albanians living abroad (mostly in Germany). The airline was set up by Albanian businessman Taf Tafa and was supported by Albanian and Kosovan shareholders. Services commenced on 18 December 2009, with scheduled flights out of Tirana International Airport and Pristina International Airport to Athens International Airport. [1] [2]
In early February 2010, Tafa Air was forced to suspend operations again, when Lithuanian airline flyLAL Charters discontinued the aircraft lease contract that provided Tafa Air with its only airplane. Tafa originally announced it would restart services in late March or early April of the same year, but the company has dissolved since then. [3]
Tafa Air operated its flights using a leased Boeing 737-300. [4]

Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza, often referred to as the Rinas International Airport, is one of the two main international airports of the Republic of Albania. It serves the city of Tirana, its metropolitan area, and surrounding region in the county of Tirana. The airport is named in honour of the Albanian Roman Catholic nun and missionary, Mother Teresa (1910–1997). It is located 6 nautical miles northwest of Tirana, in the municipality of Krujë, Durrës County. It offers international connections primarily within Europe, with the most frequent routes to Milan, Rome, London and Istanbul.

Albatros Airways Sh.p.k was a low-cost airline based in Tirana in Albania. It flew to destinations in Italy using Fokker 100 aircraft. Its main base was Rinas Mother Teresa Airport (TIA), Tirana. On 1 September 2006 the airline was grounded, only with one phone call on 31 August 2006, by the Albanian aviation authorities because of unpaid airport and air traffic control fees.

Albtransport was Albania's government-owned flag carrier between 1957 to 1991. Throughout its existence, it only sporadically carried out civil flights with the Ilyushin Il-14 of the Albanian Air Force. The state-owned company was primarily responsible for national issues in civil aviation, including air traffic control in Albania and handling at Tirana Airport and its management.
