Taha Malik was born on 31 March 1987, in United States. He is a Pakistani-American record producer, musician, rapper, and Film score composer. On completing his formal education he began his career as a record producer.

Early life

During high school, Malik began exploring music-making on a desktop computer at home. In high school, he was DJing. He got a RadioShack MIDI keyboard and a Roland MC-909. This was the turning point to a career in music production. Still, Malik does not define his music as "electronic music." He says: "I like experimenting...I like to bend genres." [1]

Malik has worked with Ogilvy and Mather as music director, strategist and consultant, and with multinational brands. Malik has produced content television, radio, and digital campaigns. [2] He has worked with longtime collaborator Adnan Malik, and filmmakers Ahsan Rahim, Kamal Khan, Asim Raza, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. [2]

Cinema

In 2019, Malik created songs in the films Laal Kabootar [3] and Baaji . Malik's singing in Laal Kabootar was described by Something Haute as "power-packed vocals." [4] According to the Express Tribune: "Laal Kabootar isn't only an impressive visual experience but its sound and production design further break new ground. [5]

Laal Kabootar has been selected as Pakistan's official submission for the 92nd Academy Awards (Oscars), and is a candidate for nomination in the best International Feature Film category. [6] [7] Laal Kabootar (The Red Pigeon) was screened at the 2020 Palm Springs International Film Festival in California. [8] It was also screened at the Singapore International Film Festival [9] and won best feature at the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival. [10]

TV/Digital

In 2020, Malik wrote the original music score for YouTube's Season 1 of "Fundamental. Gender Justice. No Exceptions," which has been nominated for two DayTime Emmy Awards in 2021. [11] [12]

Installations

In 2017, Malik contributed to HOME 1947, an exhibition in collaboration with the British Council, Citizen's Archive of Pakistan and Sharmeen Obaid. "Before arriving in Karachi, Home 1947 was showcased in Manchester in July, followed by Mumbai in August and Lahore in the month of October." [13]

Saving Face is a 2012 documentary film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Daniel Junge about acid attacks on women in Pakistan. The film won an Emmy Award and the 2012 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject, making its director, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Pakistan's first Oscar winner. The film was inspired from the life of acid victim Fakhra Younus, who died by suicide in 2012.

Lahore Music Meet (LMM) is an annual two-day event in Lahore, Pakistan, dedicated to celebration and critique of the Music of Pakistan. LMM is a gathering of music enthusiasts, artists, people from the music industry and academics involved in music. The conference was founded by Natasha Noorani, Zahra Paracha, Noor Habib, Ayesha Haroon and Hasan Abbas.

Laal Kabootar is a 2019 Pakistani action crime thriller film directed by Kamal Khan, produced by Hania Chima and Kamil Chima, and written by Ali Abbas Naqvi. Taha Malik is the music director while Danial Hyatt, son of Rohail Hyatt, provides the background score. The film features Ahmed Ali Akbar, Mansha Pasha, Rashid Farooqui, Raza Gillani, Syed Mohammad Ahmed, and Ali Kazmi. The film was released on 22 March 2019.

<i>Baaji</i> 2019 Pakistani film

Baaji is a 2019 Pakistani romantic drama film, directed by Saqib Malik and produced by his Production company Page 33 Films. The film features Meera as Shameera Osman Khalid Butt as Rohail Khan/ Khalid Osman, Amna Ilyas as Neha, Mohsin Abbas Haider as Ajji, Ali Kazmi as Rammy, Nayyar Ejaz, and Nisho in pivotal roles. It is a dramatic tale of a fading Lollywood actress Shameera (Meera), who is not accepting that now her position in the industry is not much valuable. The story revolves around the relationship of Shameera with a Salon girl Neha who later becomes an assistant of Shameera and make this opportunity happens of working with an American Based Pakistani Director Rohail Khan. Neha who belongs to a conservative lower middle class family then also make herself involved in Shameera's comeback movie titled Waapsi by helping them in rehearsals and script making so far she get a chance to take a supporting role in the movie. The film includes Ali Kazmi as Raamy who is highly aggressive about Shameera. Mohsin Abbas Haider plays the love interest of neha's character, while the Legendary actor Nayyer Ejaz supports the film by his great comics and unforgettable role as Chand Kamal, film also includes numerous well-known faces from the industry as in cameo appearances.

Faiza Gillani is a Pakistani television, theatre and film actress known for her character roles. Made her on-screen debut in 2010, and her notable supporting roles were in Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi, Sannata, Deewangi and Prem Gali. She made her cinematic debut with 2019 crime thriller Laal Kabootar.

Takatak is a Pakistani progressive metal/djent band from Lahore, Punjab, formed in 2009. Takatak is one of the few metal bands currently active in Pakistan. The band released its first album, Acrophase, in October 2020, more than 10 years after the band was formed.

The 19th Lux Style Awards presented by Lux to honor the best in fashion, music, films and Pakistani television of 2019, held digitally on 31 December 2020. The awards were held virtually due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world.

Abdullah Siddiqui is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, and producer associated with Urdu and English language music. He made his breakthrough appearance on Nescafé Basement season 5 with his song "Resistance", and followed it up by making his album debut with Metannoya in 2019. <i>Kamli</i> (2022 film) 2022 Pakistani film

Kamli is a 2022 Pakistani drama film directed by Sarmad Khoosat, who also has produced it with Kanwal Khoosat under the banner Khoosat Films. The film is based on a short film by Mehar Bano, with additional story and dialogues by Khoosat himself. It stars Saba Qamar, Sania Saeed, Nimra Bucha and debutant Hamza Khawaja in lead roles. Kamli revolves around the intertwining stories of three women and their restrained desires. The film released theatrically on 3 June 2022 and opened to positive reviews from critics.
