Taigh Chearsabhagh is an arts centre and museum in Lochmaddy on the island of North Uist, Scotland. [1] [2]
Taigh Chearsabhagh was built in 1741 and originally used as an inn; it has since served as a post office, house and workshop before being developed as an arts centre since 1993. [3] It is the base for the art school of Lews Castle College, part of the University of the Highlands and Islands, where students can study for NC Art and Design or a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, or take short courses. [4]
In 2022 it was a venue for Simon Armitage's Poet Laureate's Library Tour. [5]

Angus McPhee or MacPhee (1916–1997) was a Scottish Outsider Artist, who lived as a young man in the community of Eochar on the island of South Uist, part of the Outer Hebrides. He made his art by weaving found vegetation, such as grasses, into extraordinary garments. He also used sheep's wool picked from barbed wire fences, and leaves. MacPhee created most of his work whilst in the Craig Dunain Hospital near Inverness. He chose not to speak for 50 years.
Barpa Langass, is a Neolithic chambered cairn on the Isle of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It measures about 72 feet in diameter by 18 feet in height, and is around 5,000 years old. The roof is constructed of two massive slabs with a third slab superimposed.
Pobull Fhinn is a stone circle on the Isle of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. The name is Gaelic. The first word has been variously spelt as pobull, poball, pobul or as plural pobuill. The phrase can be translated as "Fionn's people", "the white/fair people", or "Finn's tent". The plural form Pobuill Fhinn can be translated as "Fionn's peoples" and is unlikely to be correct.
Na Fir Bhrèige is a set of three standing stones on the Isle of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. They lie on the northwestern slope of Blashaval.
Orosay is a small uninhabited tidal island in the Sound of Barra lying at the north end of Traigh Mhòr, the ‘big beach’ on the north east coast of Barra. It is one of ten islands in the Sound of Barra, a Site of Community Importance for conservation in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It is about 30 hectares in extent and the highest point is 38 metres (125 ft).
Teampull na Trionaid is a ruined 13th-century Augustinian nunnery at Carinish, on North Uist, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
Gairloch Museum is an independent museum in the Wester Ross region of Scotland. The museum is located in the Highland village of Gairloch, in Achtercairn. The museum moved to a new site in 2019- a former Cold War building that had been converted to house exhibitions. The following year the museum was named one of the five winners of the 2020 ArtFund Museum of the Year Award.

Sursaigh is an island off North Uist in the Sound of Harris, Scotland. It lies 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) northeast of the village of Lochmaddy and there are numerous nearby islands including Stromay, Sgarabhaigh and Tahay.
