Taj Yasin Maimoen (born July 2, 1983), known as Gus Yasin, is a Indonesian politician who is the 14 th vice governor of Central Java. Previously, he was also served as the vice governor of Central Java from 2018 to 2023.
Before becoming vice governor, Taj Yasin was a member of the Central Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from the United Development Party (PPP) faction from the Central Java II Electoral District. He sat on Commission E which oversees supervision in the field of Kesra including social, education, health, sports and youth, community and women's empowerment, child protection, family planning, regional libraries and archives, RSUD and RSKD, mental and spiritual. He is known as the son of a famous cleric from Rembang, Central Java, Maimun Zubair (1928–2019). [1] He is considered a representative of religious circles, especially Nahdlatul Ulama. [2] [3] [4] In addition, he is one of the leaders of the Central Java GP Ansor. [5]
Yasin received his education at the Ghozaliyah Elementary Madrasah Sarang, Rembang Regency (1995), the Ghozaliyah Junior Madrasah Sarang, Rembang (1998), and the Al Anwar Senior Madrasah Sarang, Rembang (2001). Before becoming Vice Governor of Central Java, he was a member of the Central Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) for the 2014–2018 period from the United Development Party (PPP).
He ran in the 2018 Central Java gubernatorial election as vicr governor from incumbent Ganjar Pranowo and was supported by the PDI-P, PPP, Democratic, NasDem, Golkar, Hanura, Perindo and PSI. Long before becoming Ganjar Pranowo's running mate, he had actually been proposed as a candidate for vice governor by Ganjar Pranowo's rival, Sudirman Said. [9]
Like most santri, he is often called by the nickname Gus Yasin. He lives in Karangmangu Village RT 04 RW 01, Sarang, Rembang Regency. The Deputy Chairperson of the PPP DPW is married to Nawal Yasin and has three children. In addition to studying in Rembang, Taj Yasin was also involved in Indonesian Islamic Students in Damascus, Syria. [1]
