Takatak is a Pakistani progressive metal/djent band from Lahore, Punjab, formed in 2009. Takatak is one of the few metal bands currently active in Pakistan. The band released its first album, Acrophase, in October 2020, more than 10 years after the band was formed. [2] [3]

Background

Formed in 2009, Takatak initially had three members, Zain Peerzada, Yusuf Ramay and Misbahuddin (also known as Misbah). [4] The group's current line-up consists of Zain Peerzada and Luke Azariah on guitars, Yusuf Ramay and Daud Ramay on drums, Altamash Sever and Ali Suhail on vocals and Isa Najam on bass. [4]

Takatak initially remained active for three years before going into a hiatus in 2012. They made a comeback in 2018, when they headlined at the Lahore Music Meet with two new songs, Voyager and Phantom. This was a turning point for the band.

The band also released  their debut EP, 'Out of Something', in 2018, which consisted of four songs. The same year, Takatak started working on their first studio album titled Acrophase. [5] [6] The first single from the album, 'Fault Lines', was released in early 2020. [7] [8] More singles came out before the complete album, consisting of eight songs in total was released in October 2020. [7] [9] Acrophase was mixed by Keshav Dhar of Skyharbor and mastered by Ermin Hamidovich. [10] Metal Injection readers named it the best debut album of 2020. [11]

In December 2020, Takatak debuted on Velo Sound Station with classical dancer Nighat Chaudhary who performed alongside the band on their single Phantom. [12]

Zulfiqar "Xulfi" Jabbar Khan is a Pakistani composer, singer-songwriter, music producer and a guitarist. Starting his career in 1994, Khan is the recipient of multiple awards in Pakistan. He is currently working on the television series Coke Studio, for which he is the producer and mentor.

Tara Mahmood is a Pakistani actress and singer. She rose to prominence by playing supporting roles in high-rated films, Seedlings (2012) and Good Morning Karachi (2013). Her performance in drama serials Muhabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai (2014) and Diyar-e-Dil (2015) earned her a wide spread acclaim. Tara joined the band Rushk in 2014 after five years long hiatus, as its lead vocalist replacing Nazia Zuberi. She has played a role of Masooma in Hum TV's acclaim Ramzan series Suno Chanda and its sequel Suno Chanda 2. She, alongside her sister Beenish Mehmood are the daughters of veteran politician, Shafqat Mehmood, the former Federal Minister of Education and National Heritage.

Talal Qureshi is a Pakistani record producer, singer, songwriter, actor, director & makeup artist.

E Sharp is a rock band from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, that initially started as a cover band active in Karachi's underground music scene but later on started creating their own original work. The band's first two albums; Bahadur Yaar Jung (2015) and 600 Saal (2017)were nominated at the Lux Style Awards respectively. A bunch of their singles and music videos has mostly received positive reviews. Their third album Choti Khushiyan was released in 2020 and received positive reviews as well.

Sikandar Ka Mandar is an indie folk rock band from Karachi. Since its formation in 2010, the band members have been increasingly involved in the local indie music industry in Pakistan. They released their debut, self-titled album in 2013 and have since performed on multiple occasions across the country at festivals such as the Lahore Music Meet, Storm in a Teacup, I Am Karachi, and FACE Music Mela.

Abdullah Qureshi is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, and music composer. Born in Islamabad, Abdullah gained recognition from his covers on YouTube. Qureshi also featured in popular music TV program Nescafé Basement Season 4 and performed an original song "Awaz Do".

Bayaan is an alternative rock band from Lahore, Pakistan. It is the winning band of Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 3 in 2018. Appeared in Nescafe Basement, the band had performed throughout Pakistan before appearing in Pepsi Battle of the Bands. The 5-member band consists of Asfar Hussain (vocalist), Haider Abbas (bassist), Shahrukh Aslam (guitarist), Muqeet Shahzad (guitarist), and Mansoor Lashari (drummer). The band members Shahzad and Abbas knew each other for more than a decade and played together in the school band. They moved to the underground music circuit and met Mansoor Lashari. In between, Lashari and Abbas became a part of Nescafe Basement where they performed with Hussain and Aslam. Thus, Bayaan came into existence. Bayaan is managed by their bassist, Haider Abbas.

Woh Jahan is the third studio album by Pakistani progressive rock band Black Hour, released on 19 February 2021 by Rearts Records globally. The recording sessions occurred at the SnakeHook Studios in Islamabad, Pakistan with production by Black Hour alongside Fahad Humayun Chohan. The album is the first Urdu language album by the band.

<i>Coke Studio Pakistan</i> season 14 Fourteenth television season of Coke Studio Pakistan

The fourteenth season of the Pakistani music television series Coke Studio Pakistan was produced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan after Rohail Hyatt stepped down from the role. Coca-Cola Pakistan was the executive producer of the show. Season 14 featured 13 original songs, each with its own visuals, and ran from 14 January 2022 to 22 March 2022.

Abdullah Siddiqui is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, and producer associated with Urdu and English language music. He made his breakthrough appearance on Nescafé Basement season 5 with his song "Resistance", and followed it up by making his album debut with Metannoya in 2019. Karakoram is a Pakistani alternative rock band. The band consists of Sherry Khattak as the lead vocalist and guitarist, Omair Farooq as bassist, Bilawal Lahooti as drummer, and Zain Peerzada and Annan Noukhez as guitarists. It was formed in Lahore, Punjab in 2017.

Na Baligh Afraad is an Urdu-language Lollywood feature film released in Pakistan in June 2024. A comedy film, it was directed by Nabeel Qureshi and produced by Fizza Ali Meerza.
