Tamborine Mountain State High School is a co-educational, state secondary school located in Tamborine Mountain, in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. [1] It is administered by the Department of Education. As of 2023, it had an enrollment of 898 students and a teaching staff of 85. [2]

History

Tamborine Mountain State High School originally opened its doors on 29 January 1990, under the name Helensvale State High School. [3] In 1999, Tamborine Mountain State High School opened as an annex of Helensvale State High School, [4] known as 'Helensvale State High School, Tamborine Mountain Campus' from 1 January 1999 to 31 December 2000. [3] By 2001, Tamborine Mountain State High School became a standalone school, [3] with a name change on 1 January 2001 from 'Helensvale State High School, Tamborine Mountain Campus' to 'Tamborine Mountain State High School', [3] and was given its independence, becoming a full-fledged high school in its own right by 2002. [4] The first group of Year 12s graduated in 2002.[ citation needed ]

Defamation Case

In 2019, Tamborine Mountain State High School principal Tracey Brose launched defamation action against five parents, claiming more than $1 million in damages for comments made about her on Facebook and a Change.org petition while she was temporarily suspended from her job in 2016. [5] [6] In 2020, Judge Catherine Muir ruled in favour of Brose and ordered Donna and Miguel Baluskas to pay $3000 in damages each. [7] [8]
