Tammy Hensrud is an American opera singer and teacher credited with hundreds of international performances. She is an adjunct Professor of Voice at Hofstra University. [1]

Hofstra University is a private, non-profit, nonsectarian university in Hempstead, New York. Long Island's largest private university, Hofstra originated in 1935 as an extension of New York University (NYU) under the name Nassau College – Hofstra Memorial of New York University at Hempstead, Long Island. It became independent Hofstra College in 1939 and gained university status in 1963. Comprising ten schools, including the Northwell School of Medicine and Deane School of Law, Hofstra is noted for a series of prominent Presidential conferences and hosting several United States presidential debates.

She portrayed many trouser roles from Mozart's Cherubino and Sesto, to Strauss' Octavian and Composer, as well as the Rossini heroines of Rosina, Cenerentola and Isabella. She made her European debut in Klagenfurt as Romeo in Bellini's I Capuleti e I Montecchi while still in the Vienna State Opera's Young Artist Program. Following a career with more than 35 roles in the mezzo-soprano repertoire, Hensrud embarked on a career as a soprano performing roles such as Amelia, Lady Macbeth, Senta, Chrysothemis, and Vanessa along with such roles as Donna Elvira, Tosca and Lisa. As a soprano, Hensrud has appeared in opera houses throughout Europe and the US including the Vienna State Opera, Stuttgart Opera, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Klagenfurt Stadttheater, the Salzburg Summer and Easter Festivals, the Metropolitan Opera, Cleveland Opera, Opera Orchestra of New York, and Liederkranz Opera.

Der Rosenkavalier, Op. 59, is a comic opera in three acts by Richard Strauss to an original German libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. It is loosely adapted from the novel Les amours du chevalier de Faublas by Louvet de Couvrai and Molière's comedy Monsieur de Pourceaugnac. It was first performed at the Königliches Opernhaus in Dresden on 26 January 1911 under the direction of Max Reinhardt, Ernst von Schuch conducting. Until the premiere the working title was Ochs auf Lerchenau.

Ariadne auf Naxos, Op. 60, is an opera by Richard Strauss with a German libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. Combining slapstick comedy and consummately beautiful music, the opera's theme is the competition between high and low art for the public's attention.

Since 2008 Hensrud has also performed with soprano Korliss Uecker as the vocal duo "Feminine Musique". The duo specialises in performing works by women composers and have presented lecture recitals at conferences and festivals in the US and internationally. [2]

Korliss Uecker is an American operatic soprano from Hettinger, North Dakota. With a Masters of Music from the Juilliard School, she performed over 100 times at the Metropolitan Opera singing roles such as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and Papagena in The Magic Flute. She has also appeared with Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center, Dallas Opera, Santa Fe Opera and the Spoleto Festival, among others. In addition to opera, Uecker sings a wide variety of vocal music including lieder, French chansons, cabaret, jazz and American musical theatre.
