The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) is an international film festival founded in 1993, the festival has since taken place every year in East Hampton, New York. It is usually an annual five-day event in mid-October and is held in theatre venues located in the Long Island area of New York, United States. Approximately 18,000 visitors attend each festival and close to a hundred films are featured each year, including an annual representation of at least twenty countries and an awards package worth over $200,000. HIFF was founded as a celebration of independent film in a variety of forms, and to provide a forum for independent filmmakers with differing global perspectives. The festival places a particular emphasis upon new filmmakers with a diversity of ideas, as a means to not only provide public exposure for festival content and its creators, but to also inspire and enlighten audiences. The festival has presented films that have subsequently been considered highly successful productions; the 2008 event featured eventual winners of the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Independent Spirit Award "Best Picture" accolades, and the 2011 season consisted of 24 Academy Award nominations.

Cohen started her career running Brian De Palma's Fetch Productions. The feature films Scarface and Body Double were produced during her tenure there.

Three of her projects have screened in competition at the Sundance Film Festival Inside Monkey Zetterland, starring Patricia Arquette, Sandra Bernhard, Sofia Coppola, Rupert Everett, Ricki Lake, Martha Plimpton, Katherine Helmond, Debi Mazer, Matha Plimpton, "Egg Salad,” starring Helen Shaver, and "Guinevere,” starring Stephen Rea and Sarah Polley.

Wrath of Gods is a 2006 documentary film directed by Jon Gustafsson. It tells the story of the dramatic circumstances Canadian director Sturla Gunnarsson and his crew had to go through during the making of the film Beowulf & Grendel. The main focus of the documentary is on director Sturla Gunnarsson, but other participants are Gerard Butler, Paul Stephens, Eric Jordan, Stellan Skarsgård, Peder Pedrero, Wendy Ord and Sarah Polley. The director of Wrath of Gods, Jon Gustafsson, was hired to play one of Beowulf's warriors and he is credited in Beowulf & Grendel as Geat Warrior #2, Gerard Butler and Martin Delaney co-produced the film. The music was composed by Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson.

Stories We Tell is a 2012 Canadian documentary film written and directed by Sarah Polley and produced by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). The film explores her family's secrets—including one intimately related to Polley's own identity. Stories We Tell premiered August 29, 2012 at the 69th Venice International Film Festival, then played at the 39th Telluride Film Festival and the 37th Toronto International Film Festival. In 2015, it was added to the Toronto International Film Festival's list of the top 10 Canadian films of all time, at number 10. It was also named the 70th greatest film since 2000 in a 2016 critics' poll by BBC.

Snow in August is a 2001 film adapted by Richard Friedenberg based on the New York Times best selling novel by Pete Hamill. Featuring a young boy from an Irish Catholic neighborhood of Brooklyn in 1947, the film follows the unlikely friendship that evolves between 11-year-old Michael and a Czechoslovakian Rabbi that stirs up the wrath of a local Irish gang from Michael's neighborhood. After a tragic turn of events, Michael seeks the help of an ancient Jewish text to summon a protector in his time of need. The film is a made-for-television movie that was distributed by Showtime Networks in 2001, and later released on DVD in 2003.
