History

Tanjung Datu-class ship was built by PT Palindo Marine beginning on 15 March 2016. The construction took 636 days to complete. It is officially in service in Monday, 18 January 2018. [4]

On 13 December 2020, KN Tanjung Datu saved a Chinese fishing ship adrift in the North Natuna sea. The ship, Lu Rong Yuan Yu 168, had a broken rudder. Tanjung Datu crew made a repair and the ship was escorted out of Indonesia's EEZ. [5]

Following the dispute in the South China Sea, KN Tanjung Datu have dispelled approximately 31 to a maximum of 64 fishing boats (in single occasion) escorted by 3 Chinese Coast Guard vessels in the North Natuna Sea. [6]

The Indonesian Maritime Security Agency is a maritime patrol and rescue agency of the Republic of Indonesia. Bakamla is a non-ministerial government institution which reports directly to the President through Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. Bakamla's duty is to conduct security and safety patrols in the territorial waters of Indonesia and the jurisdiction of Indonesia. Previously Bakamla was a non-structural institution called the Coordinating Agency for the Security of the Republic of Indonesia. The agency is not part or associated with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, although its top-ranking leadership are handpicked from the Indonesian Navy. Bakamla and the Indonesian Navy, however, often conduct exercises and joint-operation together. While during search-and-rescue operations, Bakamla also conduct joint-operations with the National Search and Rescue Agency.

KRI Nagapasa (403) is a submarine of the Indonesian Navy. She is the lead ship of the Nagapasa-class submarines of the Indonesian Navy that are an upgraded variant of Korea's Chang Bogo class. The vessel was built by the South Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DMSE) and was commissioned in August 2017. She is one of three submarines purchased for a total of $1.1 billion from Korea.

<i>Nagapasa</i>-class submarine Submarine class

The Nagapasa class is an upgraded variant of the Jang Bogo class, also known as Improved Chang Bogo. The vessels were built by the South Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DMSE) and the Indonesian PT PAL. As of 2021, six ships have been planned, which were divided into two batches. Batch 1 consists of three ships and all are already commissioned. Batch 2 also consists of three ships that are in the early development stage. The class is named for weapon of Indrajit, Nagapash.
