Vilho "Ville" Eino Ritola was a Finnish long-distance runner. Known as one of the "Flying Finns", he won five Olympic gold medals and three Olympic silver medals in the 1920s. He holds the record of winning most athletics medals at a single Games – four golds and two silvers in Paris 1924 - and ranks second in terms of most athletics gold medals at a single Games.

He competed in 1972 Olympics at 3000-meter steeplechase finishing 8th. In 1976 Olympics he competed in 5000 meters and finished 13th. In 1975 he broke world record in 25000 meters running by his result 1:14:16,8. The record was broken by Bill Rodgers in 1979.

Eero Johannes "Erkka" Tapio was a Greco-Roman wrestler from Finland who won four medals at the world championships of 1965–69, including a gold medal in 1967. He competed at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics and placed fifth-sixth in 1964 and 1968. He was voted the Finnish Sports Personality of the Year in 1967, placing within first ten in 1965, 1966 and 1969.
Aarne Kainlauri was a Finnish steeplechaser who competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics, finishing 10th. Through World War II, he was frequently on the podium in the Finnish national Championships, winning the 800 metres in 1940 and 1943. He won both the 1500 metres and steeplechase in 1948, but was selected to the Olympics only in the steeplechase. He repeated his steeplechase victory in 1949 before retiring to work for the Finnish National Railroad. He remained an active cyclist into his 90s. He turned 100 in May 2015. He died on 11 March 2020, aged 104.
