Tara Bethan Williams [2] (born 8 December 1983) [3] is a Welsh actress, singer and presenter.

Biography

Daughter of professional footballer and wrestler Orig Williams, [4] Bethan was brought up in Llansannan and Rhyl.

From a young age, Bethan sang and danced and performed in the Eisteddfod . She was educated at Aled Primary School in Llansannan and Ysgol Glan Clwyd. She later graduated with honours from Ivor Novello - Redroofs Theatre School, where she won "Most Promising Performer of the Year". [5] She won the National Eisteddfod's Gwobr Goffa Wilbert Lloyd Roberts when it was held in Llanbedrgoch in 1999. [6] She became the youngest member ever of the Gorsedd of Bards at Newport Eisteddfod at the age of 20. [5]

Bethan began appearing on stage in north Wales from a young age, appearing in plays such as Cinderella , Jack And The Beanstalk and Peter Karrie Unmasked at the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl, Goldilocks and the Three Bears at the Empire Theatre in Sunderland, My Fair Lady at the Royal Ascot Pavilion and Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs at the City of Varieties Theatre in Leeds. [7] In 2004, she appeared as Laura in the series Emyn Roc a Rol and had a role as temptress Kelly in Footballer's Wives in a 90-minute special. [7] Her debut album Does Neb yn fy Nabod i features her own, and eight compositions by Gwenno Dafydd and Heulwen Thomas, released on the Sain Records label. [8] In 2006, she was presenter of the S4C children's fun show, Mama Mia. [9] She appeared in I'd Do Anything in 2008 and was voted out by Andrew Lloyd Webber after she performed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"[ citation needed ] She also had a role as a cowgirl in Cymru Fach and appeared in Rownd a Rownd . [5]

Bethan did a UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat . [10] in 2013. Bethan appeared in Bugsy Malone at the Queen's Theatre in London with the National Youth Music Theatre. [5] She then appeared in the Welsh language soap opera Pobol Y Cwm from 2011 to 2016 and then again from 2018 to 2019.

From 2018, Bethan has been one of three main Welsh judges (alongside Connie Fisher and Stifyn Parri (series 1) / Lloyd Macey (series 2) ) on the panel of Junior Eurovision: Chwilio am Seren (English: Search for a Star), a singing competition organised by Rondo Media and broadcast on S4C, to select an entrant aged 9 to 14 to participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018, representing Wales.

Rownd a Rownd is a Welsh soap opera created by Rondo Media and shown on S4C since 11 September 1995. It was claimed to be the first Celtic-related language soap specifically directed at a youth audience. It is set in the fictional harbour town of Glanrafon in Anglesey.

Llansannan Human settlement in Wales

Llansannan is a rural village and community in Conwy County Borough, Wales. It lies on the bank of the River Aled and is about 8 miles to the south of Abergele and 9 miles (14 km) to the west of Denbigh. The population was 1,291 in 2001, with 67% able to speak Welsh. Urdd National Eisteddfod

The Urdd National Eisteddfod is an annual Welsh-language youth festival of literature, music and performing arts organised by Urdd Gobaith Cymru. Arguably Europe's largest youth festival, it is usually held during the last week of May, coinciding with schools' half term holiday. Locations alternate between north and south Wales. The Eisteddfod consists of competitive singing, recitation, art, composition, dance and instrumental events for contestants aged between 7 and 24 years. Regional qualifying heats are held in advance around Wales.

Orig Williams

Orig Williams was a Welsh professional wrestler and wrestling promoter. Williams spent his wrestling career in the persona of a villainous heel under the pseudonym "El Bandito", and after retiring as a fighter he became a promoter, manager and television presenter. He is recognised as one of the most famous wrestlers to come from Wales.

John Hefin MBE was a Welsh television producer and director who served as head of drama at BBC Wales. He began working for the BBC in 1960, and his career at the corporation included devising the long-running Welsh soap opera Pobol y Cwm, co-writing and directing the comedy film Grand Slam, and producing the 1981 biopic The Life and Times of David Lloyd George. He was later involved with the work of Film Cymru, the Film Commission Wales, and the media journal Cyfrwng. He also worked in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at Aberystwyth University. He died from cancer in November 2012.

Gareth Finlay Williams was a Welsh language author who wrote novels for children and adults, as well as creating many television drama series.

Eirian Iola Gregory was a Welsh actress. She was best known for her role as Jean McGurk in the long-running S4C soap series Pobol y Cwm.

Wales debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 held in Minsk, Belarus on 25 November 2018. The Welsh broadcaster S4C was responsible for organising their debut entry for the contest. Manw was selected through Chwilio am Seren to represent Wales, winning the televised national final on 9 October at the Venue Cymru in Llandudno. The winning song, "Hi yw y Berta", was chosen internally and written by Ywain Gwynedd.
