Tasawar Hayat

Tasawar Hayat (born 1 January 1969) is a Pakistani mathematician who has made pioneering research contributions to the area of mathematical fluid mechanics. He is considered one of the leading mathematicians working in Pakistan and currently is a Professor of Mathematics at the Quaid-i-Azam University. [1]

Biography

Born in Khanewal, Hayat received his early education from there. He is an alumnus of University of Islamabad, better known as Quaid-i-Azam University, where he received BSc in mathematics in 1988. With his bachelor's degree, he secured a silver medal awarded by the university's board of graduation. He completed his M.Phil. in 1994, followed by the MSc in mathematics in 1992 and a PhD in mathematics, under the supervision of Dr. Saleem Asghar in 1999 from the same institution. [2]

Having joined Quaid-i-Azam University as a junior research assistant, Hayat engaged his research in wave mechanics, Fluid mechanics, and non-Newtonian fluid mechanics. [3] He became a senior research assistant in 1995, and a lecturer in mathematics in 1998. In 2001, he went to Germany where he became an AVH Fellow at the Technische Universität Darmstadt. [4]

After completing his research, Hayat returned to Pakistan, where he joined his alma mater to become an assistant professor of mathematical sciences. In 2005, he was promoted as an associate professor in mathematics department of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) and, in 2007, had promoted as a distinguished HEC National Professor. [5]

His research is engaged to the fields of Wave Motion, Acoustic, Electromagnetic and Elastic waves, Fluid Mechanics, Relativity, and Biomechanics. [6] At QAU, he is a distinguished member of Fluid Mechanics Group, where he is currently supervising the postgraduate studies. [7]

He is a senior scientist at the National Center for Physics. Fayyaz is doing research in the fields of quantum mechanics, particle physics, and meson physics. He has published numerous physics papers accompanied by Riazuddin and has co-authored Quantum Mechanics by Fayyazuddin and Riazuddin published in 1990.

The Abdus Salam Award, is a most prestigious award that is awarded annually to Pakistani nationals to the field of chemistry, mathematics, physics, biology. The award is awarded to the scientists who are resident in Pakistan, below 35 years of age on 31 December of the year for which the Prize was to be awarded. It is to consist of a certificate giving a citation and a cash award of US$1,000. It is to be awarded on the basis of the collected research and/or a technical essay written specially for the Prize

Tasneem Mohammad Shah, SI, TI, was a Pakistani scientist and a prominent mathematician who has made pioneering and instrumental research and contributions to the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) at A. Q. Khan Research Laboratories (KRL). Trained as an applied mathematician, his contributions include differential geometry, numerical analysis, information security, CFD-DEM model, hydrodynamics, computer science, fluid mechanics, Vacuum Technology and CFD-DEM.

Muneer Ahmad Rashid, FPAS, also spelled as Munir Ahmad Rashid, is a Pakistani mathematical physicist and emeritus professor of applied and mathematical physics at the Centre for Advanced Mathematics and Physics of the National University of Sciences and Technology.

Bina Shaheen Siddiqui is a Pakistani chemist and the Director of the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry at the University of Karachi. Siddiqui graduated from the University of Karachi with an MPhil in 1978. In 1980, she graduated from the same university with a PhD in organic chemistry.
