Tashi Rabstan (born 10 April 1963) is an Indian Judge. Presently,he is the Chief Justice of Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. [1] He has also served as Acting Chief Justice of Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
He was born on 10 April 1963 at village Skurbuchan,Leh Ladakh. He did his graduation and LL.B from University of Jammu. On 6 March 1990,he was enrolled in Bar Council of Jammu and Kashmir and started practising in Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh High Court and in various other High Courts. He has served as Standing Counsel for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council,Leh from 1997 to 2005. He was appointed as Central government counsel for Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh High Court in September 1998. He has also served as panel counsel for Union Public Service Commission from April 2008 to 31 December 2011. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on 8 March 2013 and made permanent on 16 May 2014. He has served as Acting Chief Justice of Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh High Court from 8 December 2022 to 14 February 2023. [2] [3]
Ladakh is a region administered by India as a union territory and constitutes an eastern portion of the larger Kashmir region that has been the subject of a dispute between India and Pakistan since 1947 and India and China since 1959. Ladakh is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region to the east,the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh to the south,both the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan to the west,and the southwest corner of Xinjiang across the Karakoram Pass in the far north. It extends from the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram range to the north to the main Great Himalayas to the south. The eastern end,consisting of the uninhabited Aksai Chin plains,is claimed by the Indian Government as part of Ladakh,but has been under Chinese control.
Leh is a city in Indian Union Territory of Ladakh Ladakh in the disputed Kashmir region. It is the capital of Ladakh since medieval age. Leh,located in the Leh district,was also the historical capital of the Kingdom of Ladakh. The seat of the kingdom,Leh Palace,the former residence of the royal family of Ladakh,was built in the same style and about the same time as the Potala Palace in Tibet. Since they were both constructed in a similar style and at roughly the same time,the Potala Palace in Tibet and Leh Palace,the royal residence,are frequently contrasted. Leh is at an altitude of 3,524 m (11,562 ft),and is connected via National Highway 1 to Srinagar in the southwest and to Manali in the south via the Leh-Manali Highway.
Kargil district is a district in Indian-administered Ladakh in the disputed Kashmir-region,which is administered as a union territory of Ladakh. It is named after the city of Kargil,where the district headquarters lies. The district is bounded by the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir to the west,the Pakistani-administered administrative territory of Gilgit–Baltistan to the north,Ladakh's Leh district to the east,and the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh to the south. Encompassing three historical regions known as Purig,Dras and Zanskar,the district lies to the northeast of the Great Himalayas and encompasses the majority of the Zanskar Range. Its population inhabits the river valleys of the Dras,Suru,Wakha Rong,and Zanskar.
The High Court of Jammu &Kashmir and Ladakh is the common high court for union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It was established as the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on 26 March 1928 by the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir. The seat of the court shifts between the summer capital Srinagar and winter capital Jammu. The court has a sanctioned judge strength of 17,13 of whom are permanent judges,and 4 are additional judges. Since 18 July 2024,the acting chief justice of the court is Tashi Rabstan.
Leh district is a district in Indian-administered Ladakh in the disputed Kashmir-region. Ladakh is an Indian-administered union territory. With an area of 45,110 km2,it is the second largest district in the country,second only to Kutch. It is bounded on the north by Gilgit-Baltistan's Kharmang and Ghanche districts and Xinjiang's Kashgar Prefecture and Hotan Prefecture,to which it connects via the historic Karakoram Pass. Aksai Chin and Tibet are to the east,Kargil district to the west,and Lahul and Spiti to the south. The district headquarters is in Leh. It lies between 32 and 36 degree north latitude and 75 to 80 degree east longitude.

It has been a crossroad of high Asia for thousands of years and has seen many cultures,empires and technologies born in its neighbours. As a result of these developments Ladakh has imported many traditions and culture from its neighbours and combining them all gave rise to a unique tradition and culture of its own.

Tashi Rabgias was an Indian scholar and historian who belonged to the Union Territory of Ladakh. He was a scholar of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. He commanded great expertise over the Bhoti language. He has many books to his credit. He has a collection of more than 200 folk songs for which he was awarded a Robe of Honour by the Art Culture and Language Department,Govt of Jammu and Kashmir.
Narayanan Nadar Paul Vasanthakumar is from Palliyadi,Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu,India and was the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. He retired on 14 March 2017. He was appointed an additional judge of High Court of Madras in December 2005 and permanent judge on 20 April 2007. He took oath as the chief justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir in February 2015.

The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act,2019 is an act of the parliament of India containing provisions to reconstitute the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Indian-administered union territories (UTs) called Jammu and Kashmir,and Ladakh,and becoming effective on 31 October 2019. A bill for the act was introduced by the Minister of Home Affairs,Amit Shah,in the Rajya Sabha on 5 August 2019 and was passed on the same day. It was then passed by the Lok Sabha on 6 August 2019 and it received the president's assent on 9 August 2019.
The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh(sic) is the governing authority of the Indian union territory of Ladakh and its two districts. The Administration is led by a Lieutenant Governor appointed by the President of India who acts on behalf of the central Government of India. Ladakh does not have an elected legislative assembly. The two districts of Ladakh both elect their own autonomous district council-the Leh Autonomous Hill development council and the Kargil Autonomous Hill development Council,which have competence over a range of domestic affairs.

Wazir,was an Indian jurist who served as the 2nd vice chancellor of the University of Kashmir from 1949 to 1957,the chief justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court from 1948 to 1967,and the acting governor of Jammu and Kashmir from March 1967 to May 1967. He also served as the first chairperson of Appellate Tribunal for Forfeited Property (ATFP) from 3 January 1977 to 2 January 1978.
