Tathawade is a developing area in the city of Pune. It is a fast growing educational hub constituting many colleges such as JSPM Institutes, Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute, Global Business School & Research Centre, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School and Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology and Indira Group of Institutes. It is next to Wakad (4 km) and Bhumkar chowk (2 km). It is popular for its rare Lord Narsinh Temple.
Towards the East are Thergaon (4 km) and Kalewadi (6 km), towards the South are Wakad and Hinjawadi (5 km), Towards the North are Walhekarwadi and Chinchwad, and Towards the West are suburban areas of Punawale (1 km) and Ravet (4 km).
Tathawade was a small, underdeveloped village before being included in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), but had many small-scale industries. Earlier it was ruled by a sarpanch. Prior to its development, most of the inhabitants were farmers.
The soil was mostly black-soil, which resulted in good crop production for the farmers. Because of the development of nearby Hinjawadi IT Park, real estate demand escalated and this area developed accordingly.
The region was populated mostly by people with the 'Pawar' surname who were local landlords. But now many new and modern societies have cosmopolitan crowd from all parts of the country.
This area has the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS). The Kiwale-Sangvi route of BRTS runs through this area.
National Highway-4 (NH-4) connects the nearby villages to the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi.

Pimpri-Chinchwad, also known as PCMC, is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The city is about 15 km (9.3 mi) northwest of the historic city of Pune, at an altitude of 590 m (1,940 ft) above sea level. It is the fifth largest city in Maharashtra and the nineteenth largest city in India and the sixteenth largest satellite city in the world by population. The city is located 135 km (84 mi) southeast from the state's capital Mumbai. It is one of the most rapidly developing suburban areas in India and has emerged as the third fastest growing city in the country. It is well known for its automotive, IT and manufacturing industry.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri, Pune, was established as Dr. D. Y. Patil Women's College of Engineering in July 1998. The college was converted into a co-education college with the name Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Engineering & Technology, Pimpri, Pune in the academic year 2002–2003. The institute is situated in the vicinity of a Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt, which is one of the biggest industrial belts in Asia. The college is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University. Ranked 172 in the engineering category by the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2021.

Hinjawadi is a suburb on the outskirts of Pune, India. It houses the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, a large tech and business park spread over 2,800 acres, which was built by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.
Pune Metro is a mass rapid transit system serving the city of Pune, India. The system comprises 3 lines with a combined length of 54.58 km (33.91 mi), of which 12 km (7.5 mi) on two lines are operational as of March 2022. The 16.59 km (10.31 mi) Purple line from PCMC Bhavan to Swargate runs on an elevated viaduct between PCMC Bhavan to Range Hills, from where it goes underground. The Aqua line runs from Vanaz to Ramwadi covering a distance of 14.66 km (9.11 mi) on an elevated viaduct. The 23.33 km (14.50 mi) elevated Line 3 will run from the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi via Balewadi to Civil Court. All three lines will align at the Civil Court interchange station.
Sus is a neighborhood in the Pune Metropolitan Area. It is located in the north-west area of the city. Earlier a small village, Sus is being increasingly urbanized. The neighbourhood falls under the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is the civic body that governs Pimpri-Chinchwad which includes Pimpri, Akurdi, Chinchwad, Nigdi, and the remainder of the northwestern city limits of Pune, India. It was established on 11 October 1982. It governs an area of 181 km2 with a population of 1.72 million. The executive power of the PCMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The position is held by Shekhar Singh (IAS) during the pandemic in late December 2020. The general body of the PCMC consists of 128 directly elected councilors, popularly known as "corporators", headed by a mayor. Rahul Jadhav (BJP) was elected as the mayor and Sachin Chinchwade (BJP) as the deputy mayor in August 2018. The PCMC headquarters is situated on the Old Pune Mumbai Highway alongside the freeway in the city of Pune.

Rainbow BRTS is a bus rapid transit system in the city of Pune. The system is operated by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML). The infrastructure has been developed by the Pune Municipal Corporation & Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pune. The project currently envisages 113 km of dedicated bus corridors along with buses, bus stations, terminals and intelligent transit management system.
Blue Ridge is a township built under the new Township Act by Paranjape Schemes. Such townships are also known as Integrated Townships. It is located in Hinjawadi in Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra, India. The township area is approximately 138 acres and was designed to be a self sufficient town with various amenities available inside the town. Citizens started occupying the houses since 2010, and continues to develop itself with newer mid- and high-rise residential towers.
