Thergaon is a suburb of the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, India, part of the metropolitan area of Pune.

History

Long back it was a rural village before the growth of the city included it in the metropolitan area. [1] Today the locality is a well developed one with many large projects having been constructed within its limits as well as having several shops and market, shopping malls, marriage halls, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, public parks & Preschool.

Economy

Pudumjee Pulp and Paper Mills runs a large paper mill there. [2] [3] The suburb has a municipal park called Bapujibuwa Park. [4]

Recreation

Late Moru Mahadu Barne Kridangan is a big sports ground for outdoor sports play such as cricket, volleyball, tennis, kabaddi, badminton, basketball, football, running track etc. Laxmibai Barne Udyan is another big park in the area with a children's playing area, a joggers track and also meditation center and amphitheater. [5] Shubhankar Heights from Shiv Constructions and Ivana from Lakshmi Properties are among the several big housing projects in the area. A government hospitals is run by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.There is also a International Preschool name EuroKids where childrens love to learn. [6]

The prime area in the locality is Dange Chowk. Several restaurants and hotels are located around it. Aundh-Ravet road passes through Dange Chowk and a beautiful flyover has been built over it. [7] [8] Dange Chowk is on the Aundh-Ravet BRTS Route and is well connected by road to all parts of the Pune city. In Thergaon near Dange Chowk there is a public park called Shivaji Park which has a famous statue of Shivaji in black stone. [9]

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is the civic body that governs Pimpri-Chinchwad which includes Pimpri, Akurdi, Chinchwad, Nigdi, and the remainder of the northwestern city limits of Pune, India. It was established on 11 October 1982. It governs an area of 181 km2 with a population of 1.72 million. The executive power of the PCMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The position is held by Shekhar Singh (IAS) during the pandemic in late December 2020. The general body of the PCMC consists of 128 directly elected councilors, popularly known as "corporators", headed by a mayor. Rahul Jadhav (BJP) was elected as the mayor and Sachin Chinchwade (BJP) as the deputy mayor in August 2018. The PCMC headquarters is situated on the Old Pune Mumbai Highway alongside the freeway in the city of Pune.

Charholi Budruk, Pune is a planned neighbourhood in the city of Pune, India. The project currently envisages 113 km of dedicated bus corridors along with buses, bus stations, terminals and intelligent transit management system.
