Taylor Spivey (born April 13, 1991) is an American professional triathlete. At the conclusion of the 2019 season she placed fourth in the ITU World Triathlon Series [1] behind Katie Zaferes, Jess Learmonth, and Georgia Taylor-Brown. This followed up an 8th place series finish in 2018, [2] 12th in 2017 [3] and 50th in 2016. [4] Spivey competes at Elite pro level in the ITU Triathlon World Cup, ITU World Triathlon Series, Grand Prix de Triathlon, American Triathlon Confederation (CAMTRI) and Super League Triathlon competitions.
Spivey is the daughter of Marc Spivey and Bonnie Spivey. [5] In interviews she has credited her parents with her introduction to triathlon, with her mother having a former career as a professional long course (Ironman) triathlete and her father also competing at Ironman distance as an age-group athlete. Her mother competed in an Ironman event while with Spivey. Born in Southern California, her background is in surf lifesaving, she won several national titles as an LA County Lifeguard. [6] [7] She swam for the Cal Poly Mustangs, competing in distance freestyle events. [6] She took up short course (sprint and standard distance) triathlon in college. [7]
Spivey attended Mira Costa High School, and went on to study Architecture at California Polytechnic State University, graduating with a BA Architecture (cum laude). [8]
Spivey competes at Elite pro level in the ITU Triathlon World Cup, ITU World Triathlon Series, Grand Prix de Triathlon, American Triathlon Confederation (CAMTRI) and Super League Triathlon competitions. All of these competitions are short course (sprint and standard distance triathlon at world cup and ITU World Triathlon Series level) although in interviews she has expressed an interest in competing in middle distance (half-iron distance) triathlons in the future.
Spivey trains with The Triathlon Squad, [8] a training group headed by lead coach Paulo Sousa and composed of a mix of American and international athletes. She is also a member of Poissy Triathlon, a professional triathlon team which competes as part of the French Triathlon Grand Prix.
Spivey has enjoyed a successful start to her 2022 Super League Triathlon Season with podium finishes at the first four races of the season, including taking the top spot at her home race, at SLT Malibu 2022. [9] She finished fourth in the final event of the series, in NEOM Saudi Arabia, a performance which secured 2nd place in the series overall. [10]
She competed in the women's triathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. [11]

A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek origin, from τρεῖς, 'three', and ἆθλος, 'competition'.
World Triathlon, previously known as the International Triathlon Union (ITU), is the international governing body for the multi-sport disciplines of triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon and other nonstandard variations. It is recognised as the international federation for the sport of triathlon and its derivatives by the International Olympic Committee, and it organises Olympic triathlon events on behalf of the IOC.
Christopher John McCormack, also known as Macca, is an Australian triathlete. McCormack is a two-time winner of the Ironman World Championship, winning the titles in 2007 and 2010. He is also the winner of the 1997 International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Cup Series, the 1997 Triathlon World Championships, the 2012 Long Distance World Championships. and inducted into the AusTriathlon Hall of Fame for 2023.

Annabel Luxford is an Australian triathlete. In International Triathlon Union (ITU) competition she is the 2005 ITU Triathlon World Cup series champion and the silver medalist at the 2005 ITU Triathlon World Championships. In 2004, she was the ITU under-23 World Champion and also finished second in the ITU Triathlon World Cup standings. Katie Zaferes is an American professional triathlete from Hampstead, Maryland. She earned a silver and bronze medal for the United States in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic triathlon held in 2021. She is also the 2019 ITU World Triathlon Series women's champion. She has placed second overall in the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Series and third in the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Series. Zaferes won both the 2018 and 2019 Super League Triathlon Championship Series. She finished in 3rd position in the series in 2021.
Kristian Blummenfelt is a Norwegian triathlete, Olympic and world champion, competing at short course, 70.3 (half-Ironman) and 140.6 (Ironman) distances. He won the gold medal in the men's triathlon at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He is the 2021 Ironman World Champion at the first World Championship held at Saint George, Utah on May 7, 2022. On 5 June 2022, Blummenfelt became the first person to complete an Ironman-distance triathlon in under seven hours during the Pho3nix Sub-7 Sub-8 event at the Lausitzring race track in Germany. Blummenfelt set a new unofficial world record for the Ironman-distance triathlon, in a time of 6:44:25.
Jessica Learmonth is a British triathlete. Learmonth is a European, Commonwealth, Olympic and World Triathlon Series medal winner based in Leeds, England where she trains at the Leeds Triathlon Centre. She won the European Triathlon Championship in 2017 and took silver in 2018. She competed in the women's event and the mixed relay at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning silver medals in both disciplines. Learmonth won silver in the 2019 World Triathlon Series.
The 2019 ITU World Triathlon Series was the 11th season of the World Triathlon Series, the top level international series for triathlon, since its establishment in 2009. The season consisted of eight pairs of triathlon races for both a men's and woman's competition, beginning on 8 March in Abu Dhabi, and concluding on 1 September with the grand final at Lausanne, Switzerland. The season also contained five mixed relays as part of the Mixed Relay Series which offers national teams qualifying points for the mixed team relay event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Georgia Taylor-Brown is an English professional triathlete. Having won bronze in the 2018 and 2019 World Triathlon Series, Taylor Brown won the one-off sprint triathlon race in Hamburg that constituted the 2020 World Triathlon Championship, becoming the fifth British woman to become world champion.
Sophie Coldwell is a British triathlete. She competed in the women's event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. and has achieved several medals in International Triathlon Union (ITU) and European Triathlon Union (ETU) Championships. Sophie Coldwell is based in Loughborough, England. On the 26th June 2022, she won her 1st major medal when helping Team GB to Silver in the mixed team relay. She finished in third place in the 2022 Super League Triathlon Championship Series.
Hayden Wilde is a New Zealand professional triathlete. He was the silver medalist at the Paris Olympics in 2024 and the bronze medallist at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, the silver medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the winner of the 2021 XTERRA World Championships. He finished second in the 2021 Super League Triathlon Championship Series, having taken the win at the SLT London race. Wilde won the 2022 Super League Triathlon Championship Series, having been victorious in 3 of the 5 series races.
