Tebello Ramakongoana (born 13 October 1996) is a long-distance runner from Lesotho. He was fourth in the marathon at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. [1]

Career

He comes from Mohlapiso, Maseepho in the Qacha's Nek District of Lesotho and is a member of Xcel Running Club. [2]

He competed in 2023 with a Lesotho National Olympics Committee (LNOC) athletics scholarship. [3] In March 2023, he won the Durban Marathon. [4] In 2023, he also set a new Lesotho national half Marathon record with a run of 1:00:35 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Half Marathon in Gqeberha. [5]

He finished in fourth place in the marathon at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in a personal best time of 2:09:57. [6]

In February 2024, he set a new national record time of 2:08:09 at the Osaka Marathon. [7] He won the Lilac Bloomsday Run in Spokane, Washington in May 2024. [8]

In the men's marathon at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, Ramakongoana finished in seventh place in with a national record time of 2:07:58. He improved that national record to 2:06:18 at the Xiamen Marathon in January 2025. [9]

Olga Appell Avalos is an American long-distance runner from Mexico, best known for winning the gold medal in the women's marathon at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. She ran at the 1992 Summer Olympics the following year, but failed to finish the race. She competed for Mexico until February 25, 1994, at which point she switched allegiance to the United States. She represented her adopted country at the 1996 Summer Olympics. There she was eliminated in the qualifying heats of the women's 10,000 metres event.

Germán Silva Martínez is a Mexican former long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon. His foremost achievements were back-to-back victories at the New York City Marathon in 1994 and 1995. He represented Mexico twice at the Summer Olympics, in 1992 and 1996. He also competed at the World Championships in Athletics on two occasions. His personal best for the marathon is two hours, eight minutes, and 56 seconds.

Tamirat competed in the marathon at the 2017 and 2022 World Athletics Championships, earning silver and gold, respectively, setting a championship record at the latter in the process. He won a silver medal in men's marathon at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, a silver medal in marathon at the 2022 European Athletics Championships, a gold medal in the 2022 European Marathon Cup, and the gold medal at the 2022 Fukuoka Marathon. He represented Israel at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's marathon, and again represented Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 2020 Olympic Marathon. Namakoe Nkhasi is a Lesotho long-distance runner who competes in distances from 5000 metres to the half marathon. He represented his country at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He was the bronze medallist in the 10,000 metres at the African Championships in Athletics in 2016. He is the Lesotho national record holder for the 5000 metres, 10000 metres and 10km road race.

Glenrose Xaba is a South African long-distance runner. In 2018, she won the SPAR Grand Prix 10 km series. She competed in the senior women's race at the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships held in Aarhus, Denmark, where she finished in 67th place. In 2024, she won the SPAR Grand Prix 10 km series.
