The University of the West of England, Bristol is a public research university, located in and around Bristol, England, which received university status in 1992. In common with the University of Bristol and University of Bath, it can trace its origins to the Merchant Venturers' Technical College, founded as a school in 1595 by the Society of Merchant Venturers.
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is a public technical and research university located in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, headed by Director Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi. It was formerly known as University of Roorkee (1949–2001) and Thomason College of Civil Engineering (1847–1949). Established in 1847 in British India by the then lieutenant governor, Sir James Thomason, it is the oldest technical institution in Asia. It was given university status in 1949 and was converted into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in 2001, thus becoming the seventh IIT to be declared. Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) is a state funded college located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and one of the oldest engineering colleges in Asia. Founded in 1887 and formerly known as the Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute, it adopted its present name on 26 January 1997. VJTI is an academically and administratively autonomous institute, but it is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. The institute is financially supported by the Government of Maharashtra.
The University of Wolverhampton is a public university located on four campuses across the West Midlands, Shropshire and Staffordshire in England. National Institute of Technology Calicut, formerly Regional Engineering College Calicut, is a public technical university and an institute of national importance governed by the NIT Act passed by the Parliament of India. The campus is situated 22 kilometres (14 mi) north east of Kozhikode, on the Kozhikode–Mukkam Road. It was established in 1961 and was known as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC) until 2002. The Government College of Engineering Karunagappally (CEK) is a public institute of engineering and technology in Karunagappally, in the north-west of Kollam district, Kerala, India. Established in 1999 by the Government of Kerala, it is the second engineering college in Kollam district the fourth engineering college under the aegis of the state government's Institute of Human Resources Development in Electronics. The institute is affiliated to the A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University, Recognized by AICTE and Accredited by National Board of Accreditation(NBA). It is the second engineering College in the Kerala Section to win the prestigious IEEE Region 10(Asia - Pacific) Exemplary Student Branch Award, Only student branch in Asia Pacific Region to win the IEEE MGA Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award twice in a row.
The Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, was founded by the Government of Kerala, India, in August 1999. It is regarded as one of the top institutions in the state for technical education. The institution is located in Barton Hill, which is two kilometres from the city centre in Trivandrum. The institute has five major departments: Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. All these departments have obtained an NBA accreditation. The college is currently ranked third out of 138 colleges in the state of Kerala according to Academic Performance Index (API) published by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.
