Ted Smale (born June 1932) is a former defensive end and tight end in the Canadian Football League with the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1956 to 1962. [1]
After playing at the University of Toronto, Ted Smale joined the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1956, staying on until 1962, mostly as a defensive end for the first three years. In 1959, head coach Frank Clair asked him to switch to tight end. Bob Simpson was the split end, and so the Rough Riders used two Canadian ends until 1962 when Smale retired. [2] [3] Smale's best year as a receiver was by far 1959 (24 catches, 490 yards, 20.4 yards per catch, 2 touchdowns). In his 7-year career, he played all regular season games 5 times. He was part of the 48th Grey Cup winning team in 1960. It was during the 1960 season that Smale severed his medial collateral ligament in his right leg, requiring surgery and 6 weeks of hospitalization. During 1960 until the end of his career, Smale ran as backup tight end to Bill Sowalski.
Russell Stanley Jackson is a former professional Canadian football player. Jackson spent his entire 12-year professional football career with the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is a member of the Order of Canada, the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, and has been described as the best Canadian-born quarterback to play in the CFL. In 2006, Jackson was voted one of the CFL's Top 50 players (#8) of the league's modern era by Canadian sports network TSN, the highest-ranked Canadian-born player on the list.
Robert O'Billovich, nicknamed "Bobby O" or "Obie", is an east regional scout for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). O'Billovich has been involved with the CFL since 1963 in the roles of player, coach, general manager, scout, and several front-office positions. As a long-time coach in the CFL, he won 107 regular season games in the CFL, the eighth highest win total by a head coach in the league's history.
Anthony Michael Peter Gabriel is a former professional Canadian football pass receiver who played in the Canadian Football League from 1971 to 1981. He played for both the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Ottawa Rough Riders. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in August 1985. George Rudolph "Duke" Terlep was an American football player, coach, and general manager who was on a college national championship team at Notre Dame in 1943 and won another championship while playing for the Cleveland Browns in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) in 1948. Terlep also won two Grey Cup championships in the Canadian Football League (CFL), once as an assistant with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and once as the general manager of the Ottawa Rough Riders.

Alphin recorded four 1,000-yard receiving seasons, including a period of three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with the Rough Riders during which he was considered one of the best receivers playing in the CFL. He was named an East all-star in 1988.
Doug Daigneault was a Canadian Football League player whose main position was defensive back. He played for three teams from 1960 to 1965 and was part of the Ottawa Rough Riders' 48th Grey Cup-winning team in 1960.
