Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) is a film festival held in Tehran every year in October with a focus on short films.

Contents

The festival was founded in 1983. [1] [2] From 2020 it is a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards® (Oscars) [3] and winner of the Grand Prix becomes eligible for the Oscar® consideration.

History

TISFF started as a special section in the Fajr International Film Festival entitled "8mm and 16mm films” in the years 1979 to 1982. [4]

The 39th Edition of TISFF will be held between 19 and 24 October in Tehran, Iran.

Lantouri is a 2016 Iranian drama film written, directed and produced by Reza Dormishian. It was shown in the Panorama section at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival and in the Discoveries section of the 32nd Warsaw Film Festival. The film covers the story of throwing acid to the face of a young active journalist by a young man "Pasha" who is a leader of a gang of thieves and blackmailers. A gang that all of its members have been affected by injustice experiences in society.

<i>The Last Fiction</i> 2018 Iranian film

The Last Fiction is an animated film adaptation of the story of "Zahhak", a page from the historical identity of Iranians and one of the central tales of Shahnameh by Ferdowsi. Ashkan Rahgozar is the director of The Last Fiction. The main idea of the recounting of this tale is to lend a different perspective to the legends and heroes of ancient Iranians. Production started in 2010, and since then over 100 animators have worked on the film.

The Globe International Silent Film Festival (GISFF) is an annual event focusing on image and non-verbal cinema which takes place in a reputable university or academic environment every year and is a platform for showcasing and judging films from filmmakers who are active in this field.
