Templeogue Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Dublin. The club has teams competing in Dublin Leagues and National Competitions, with the senior men's representative team, Griffith College Templeogue, playing in the Irish Super League.
Templeogue Basketball Club was established in 1976 by a group of Past Pupils from Templeogue College. [1] It was not until 2012 that a senior men's team entered one of Ireland's national competitions. For the 2012–13 season, Templeogue entered the National League Division 1 and made their debut on 29 September 2012 against Ulster Elks. [2] After losing their season opener, they won their first match two weeks later. [3] Between October and February, Templeogue remained unbeaten thanks to American import Isaac Gordon. [4] They finished as Division 1 Northern Conference runners-up in 2012–13 and made the semi-finals.
In 2013, Templeogue were admitted into the Premier League for the 2013–14 season. [5] The team recruited Conor and Daniel James from UCD Marian to team up with their younger brother Stephen. [6] Their first season in the top league ended with just one win in eighteen games.
The 2014–15 season saw Templeogue's Premier League team climb the ladder. After starting their campaign with three straight defeats, Templeogue bounced back to finish the regular season in third place with an 11–7 record. [7] Their strong form at the back end of the season saw coach Mark Keenan and centre Jason Killeen win Coach and Player of the Month respectively for March 2015. [8] They went on to reach the Champions Trophy final, where they were defeated 85–73 by UCC Demons. [9] [10]
In 2015–16, Templeogue were undefeated over their first 10 games, but stumbled over their final eight to finish the regular season in third place with a 14–4 record. Their form over the first half of the season saw them reach the National Cup final. [11] [12] There they defeated Swords Thunder 78–75 to claim the first national trophy in club history. The Final MVP was awarded to small forward Michael Bonaparte after he scored 21 points. [13]
In 2016–17, Templeogue won their first league title after finishing first on the regular-season table with a 20–2 record. They went on to reach the Champions Trophy final, where they lost to Tralee Warriors.
In 2017–18, Templeogue reached the National Cup final for the second time in three years, where they defeated UCD Marian 68–62 behind 23 points from MVP Lorcan Murphy. [14] They went on to reach their third Champions Trophy final in four years, but were once again defeated by Tralee Warriors.
In 2018–19, Templeogue were triumphant at last in the Champions Trophy tournament, defeating Belfast Star 77–62 in the final to win their first Champions Trophy title. [15]
In 2019–20, Templeogue reached the National Cup final for the third time in five years, where they defeated Éanna 78–68 behind 33 points from MVP Lorcan Murphy. [16]
Kieran Donaghy is an Irish Gaelic footballer and basketball player. He plays for Tralee club Austin Stacks and, formerly, at senior level for the Kerry county team. Donaghy won four All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals, eight Munster Championships and three National League titles with Kerry, and is the recipient of three All Stars Awards. He announced his retirement from inter-county football on 11 September 2018. Donaghy is also a long-time basketball player, currently playing for Tralee Warriors in the Irish Super League.
UCD Marian is an Irish basketball team based in Dublin. The team competes in the Super League and plays its home games at the UCD Sports Centre. The team is a division of UCD Marian Basketball Club and is directly associated with the University College Dublin.
Lehmon Colbert Jr. is an American professional basketball player for who last played Neptune of the Irish Super League. He played college basketball for Jacksonville University before playing professionally in England, Mexico and Ireland. He quickly became a dominant force upon joining UCC Demons in Ireland in 2013, helping them win seven of a possible nine trophies over three seasons. After four seasons with UCC Demons, Colbert spent two seasons with Neptune between 2018 and 2020, with his second season seeing him take the helm of player-coach.
Neptune Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Cork. Founded in 1947 following input from members of the Irish Defence Forces in developing citizen's clubs, Neptune is the oldest and most successful basketball club in Ireland. Based at Neptune Stadium, Neptune is the only basketball club in Ireland with its own stadium.
Swords Thunder was an Irish basketball team based in Dublin. The team competed in the Super League and played its home games at the ALSAA Sports Complex.
Jason Killeen is an Irish professional basketball player for Templeogue of the Super League. He has previously played for the Ireland national basketball team. Between 2004 and 2009, Killeen played college basketball in the United States for Winthrop and Augusta State.

The season featured 10 teams from across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, with the regular season beginning on 3 October 2015 and ending on 6 March 2016. With a first-place finish and a 16–2 win/loss record, UCC Demons were crowned back-to-back league champions, while 2016 National Cup honours went to Templeogue, who collected their first piece of silverware. In the season finale Champions Trophy tournament, Demons took out the title for the fourth straight year.

The season featured 12 teams from across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, with the regular season beginning on 23 September 2016 and ending on 19 March 2017. During the 2016 off-season, Basketball Ireland expanded its top flight men's league to 12 teams, with new team Tralee Warriors entering and Dublin side KUBS being granted promotion from the Men's Division One. With a first-place finish and a 20–2 win/loss record, Templeogue were crowned league champions for the first time in their history. 2017 National Cup honours went to Swords Thunder, who collected their first piece of silverware in the top flight league, while Tralee were crowned the winners of the season finale Champions Trophy tournament after defeating Templeogue in the final.
Tralee Warriors Basketball Club, also known as Garvey's Tralee Warriors for sponsorship reasons, is an Irish basketball club based in Tralee that currently consists of a men's team that competes in the Super League, as well as an Under 20s side. Their home arena is the Tralee Sports Complex.

The season featured 10 teams from across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, with the regular season beginning on 4 October 2014 and ending on 15 March 2015. In 2014–15, UCC Demons created history in Irish basketball by becoming the first side ever to remain undefeated for an entire season. They claimed the end-of-season Champions Trophy on 29 March 2015 to add to their League and Cup titles in a campaign that saw them win 24 games in a row. In a thrilling Champions Trophy final in Galway, Demons saw off Templeogue 85–73 behind the play of player-coach Colin O'Reilly.

Éanna Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Dublin. The club's senior men's representative team, DBS Éanna, is currently a member of Ireland's top national league, the Super League. The club has an academy for ages 5–9 years and teams from U10–U20 plus teams in the Dublin Men's Basketball League.
Jermaine Turner is an American-Irish former professional basketball player who spent the majority of his 17-year career playing in the Irish Super League. Turner first arrived in Ireland in 2000 following a season of college basketball with Dowling College. Over 17 years, he spent time with Dungannon, Tralee, Ballina, Tolka Rovers, UCD Marian, St Vincent's, and Killester. He also had stints in Switzerland, Finland, Romania and Spain.

Hermes Ladies' Hockey Club was a women's field hockey club based at St. Andrew's College in Booterstown, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland. The club entered teams in the Women's Irish Hockey League, the Irish Senior Cup and the Irish Junior Cup. In 2016 Hermes merged with the women's team at Monkstown Hockey Club and subsequently played as Hermes-Monkstown. As Hermes-Monkstown, the club represented Ireland in the 2017 EuroHockey Club Champions Cup.

The season began featuring 12 teams from across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, before dropping to 11 mid-season following Swords Thunder disbanding in February 2019. The regular season began on 29 September 2018 and ended on 24 March 2019 with Tralee Warriors claiming their maiden championship. Killester were victorious in the National Cup, while Templeogue won the Champions Trophy for the first time after finishing as runners-up in three out of the previous four seasons.
Loreto Hockey Club is a women's field hockey club based in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, Ireland. The club enter teams in the Women's Irish Hockey League, the Irish Senior Cup and the Irish Junior Cup. Loreto has also represented Ireland in European competitions, winning the 2011 EuroHockey Club Champion's Challenge II and finishing third at the 2014 European Club Championship Trophy.
The 2019–20 Irish Super League season was the 47th running of Basketball Ireland's premier men's basketball competition. The season featured 12 teams from across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The regular season began on 21 September 2019 and was scheduled to end on 14 March 2020. However, on 11 March 2020, Basketball Ireland suspended the league with one round to go due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Belfast Star were declared the season champions.
