Tennis at the Summer Olympics

Tennis was part of the Summer Olympic Games program from the inaugural 1896 Summer Olympics, but was dropped after the 1924 Summer Olympics due to disputes between the International Lawn Tennis Federation and the International Olympic Committee over how to define amateur players. After two appearances as a demonstration sport in 1968 and 1984, it returned as a full medal sport at the 1988 Summer Olympics open for all players regardless of their age and status and has been played at every edition of the Games since then.

Jill Craybas American tennis player

This was the first Olympic grass court tournament since tennis was reintroduced as an Olympic sport and the first to be held at a Grand Slam venue in the Open era.

Table tennis at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London took place from Saturday 28 July to Wednesday 8 August 2012 at ExCeL London. 174 athletes, 86 men and 88 women, competed in four events. Table tennis has appeared at the Summer Olympics on six previous occasions beginning with the 1988 Games in Seoul. In addition to men's and women's singles, the team events were staged for the second time since replacing doubles events at the 2008 Beijing Games. China was the defending champion in each of the Olympic events having won all 4 gold medals in 2008.

2013 Asian Youth Games

The 2nd Asian Youth Games were held in Nanjing, China from August 16–24, 2013. Just like the inaugural edition, the games served as a dress-rehearsal for the upcoming 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, which was also held in the same city.

Tennis at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Mens singles 2012 Olympic tennis tournament

The men's singles tennis tournament at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held at the All England Club in Wimbledon from 28 July to 5 August, making it the first Olympic grass court tournament since tennis was re-introduced to the Games. The event was run and organised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Tennis Federation (ITF), and is part of the Association of Tennis Professionals tour. Matches were the best of three sets, except for the final which was the best of five sets. Tie-breaks were in use for all sets except the fifth set of the final and the third set of all other matches. There were 64 players from 34 nations.

The tennis tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held at the Olympic Tennis Centre, from 6 to 14 August. The competition was played on a fast hardcourt surface used in numerous North American tournaments that aims to minimize disruption for players.

Leander Paes Indian tennis player

Leander Adrian Paes is an Indian professional tennis player. Regarded as one of the greatest tennis players in doubles, he holds the record for the most doubles wins in the Davis Cup. Paes has won eight doubles and ten mixed doubles Grand Slam titles. He holds a career Grand Slam in men's doubles and mixed doubles, and achieved the rare men's doubles/mixed doubles double at the 1999 Wimbledon tournament. His mixed doubles Wimbledon title in 2010 made him the second man to win Wimbledon titles in three decades.
