Terence Roberts (born 1959/1960) [1] is the current mayor of Anderson,South Carolina,the county seat of Anderson County,South Carolina. Serving since July 1,2006,he is the first African-American mayor of the city.
Terence Roberts was born on November 26,1959 (aged 62). He was raised in Anderson and is a 1978 graduate of West Side High School in Anderson. [2] He graduated with a B.A. in marketing from Winthrop University. [2] After school he started his own insurance agency. [2]
In 2006,he defeated 2-term incumbent mayor Richard Shirley by a vote of 2,219 to 1,887 [3] [4] becoming the first Black mayor of the city. [5]
He was certified as the winner of the April 8,2018,election,as the only candidate for mayor,and automatically reelected for a fourth term,July 1,2018,to June 30,2022. [6] [7]
Anderson is a city in and the county seat of Anderson County,South Carolina,United States. The population was 28,106 at the 2020 census,and the city was the center of an urbanized area of 75,702. It is one of the principal cities in the Greenville-Anderson-Mauldin metropolitan statistical area,which had a population of 824,112 at the 2010 census. It is further included in the larger Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson,South Carolina combined statistical area,with a total population of 1,266,995,at the 2010 census. It is just off Interstate 85 and is 120 miles (190 km) from Atlanta and 140 miles (230 km) from Charlotte. Anderson is the smallest of the three primary cities that make up the Upstate region,and is nicknamed the "Electric City" and the "Friendliest City in South Carolina". Anderson is the home of Anderson University,a private university with roughly 3,900 undergraduate and graduate students.
Thomas H. Bates was the 21st mayor of Berkeley,California,and a member of the California State Assembly. Bates is married to Loni Hancock,another former mayor of Berkeley and State Assembly member who served in the California State Senate. He is a graduate of the University of California,Berkeley and was a member of the Golden Bears' 1959 Rose Bowl team. Bates was a captain in the United States Army Reserves after graduating from college and served in Germany. He worked in real estate before serving on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and in the state legislature.

Dianne Lynn Watts is a former politician in British Columbia,Canada. She won her first federal election campaign in October 2015 to become a federal Member of Parliament for South Surrey—White Rock. In 2017 she resigned as MP to pursue a failed leadership bid for the BC Liberal provincial party. Previously,Watts served as the mayor of Surrey,the second-largest city in the province from 2005 to 2014. She was elected in 2005 to this office as the city's first female mayor.

The Columbus mayoral election of 2011 was the 84th mayoral election in Columbus,Ohio. It was held on Tuesday,November 8,2011. Incumbent mayor Michael B. Coleman defeated challenger Earl W. Smith. The scheduled nonpartisan primary was canceled because only two candidates were able to make the ballot. While the election was formally nonpartisan,Coleman was affiliated with the Democratic party while Smith was affiliated with the Republican party. Coleman was re-elected to a fourth term and became the longest-serving mayor of Columbus.

Incumbent Republican Governor Henry McMaster,who took office after Nikki Haley resigned to become U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations,ran for election to a full term. The primary was held on June 12,with the Democrats nominating State Representative James E. Smith Jr. McMaster failed to win a majority of the vote,and then defeated John Warren in the Republican runoff on June 26. In the general election,McMaster defeated Smith,winning election to a full term.
