Terhi Holster is a Finnish ski-orienteering competitor.
Ski orienteering (SkiO) is a cross-country skiing endurance winter racing sport and one of the four orienteering disciplines recognized by the IOF. A successful ski orienteer combines high physical endurance, strength and excellent technical skiing skills with the ability to navigate and make the best route choices while skiing at a high speed.
She competed at the 1996 World Ski Orienteering Championships at Lillehammer, where she placed fifth in the long distance, 8th in the short distance, and won a bronze medal with the Finnish relay team, together with Virpi Juutilainen and Arja Nuolioja. [1] She finished third overall in the World Cup in Ski Orienteering in 1997. [2] At the 1998 World Ski Orienteering Championships in Windischgarsten, Austria, she placed 14th in the long distance, sixth in the short distance, and won a gold medal in the relay with the Finnish team. The World Ski Orienteering Championships (Ski-WOC) is the official event to award the titles of World Champions in ski orienteering. The World Championships is organized every odd year. The programme includes Sprint, Middle and Long Distance competitions, and a Relay for both men and women. The first Ski-WOC was held in 1975.
Lillehammer is a town and municipality in Oppland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Gudbrandsdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Lillehammer. As of 2018, the population of the town of Lillehammer was 28 034. The city centre is a late nineteenth-century concentration of wooden houses, which enjoys a picturesque location overlooking the northern part of lake Mjøsa and the river Lågen, surrounded by mountains. Lillehammer hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics and 2016 Winter Youth Olympics. Before Oslo's withdrawal from consideration, it was included as part of a bid to host events in the 2022 Winter Olympics if Oslo were to win the rights to hold the Games.
Virpi Juutilainen is a Finnish ski-orienteering competitor and world champion.
In foot orienteering, she competed at the 2003 World Orienteering Championships in Rapperswil/Jona, where she placed 13th in the long distance. [4] [5] [6] With her club Turun Suunnistajat, she won first place in the women's Jukola relay (the Venla Relay) in 2002 (running the third leg), along with team members Bohdana Terova, Vroni König-Salmi and Simone Luder. The 2003 World Orienteering Championships, the 20th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Rapperswil and Jona, Switzerland, 3 –9 August 2003.
The Jukola Relay is an orienteering relay race held annually in Finland since 1949. Jukola is the biggest orienteering relay event in the world. The race takes place on a Saturday between the 13th and 19th of June in different sites around Finland. The northernmost location has been 50 km north of the Arctic Circle. The name Jukola is a family name in the classic Finnish novel, "Seven Brothers". The women's relay, known as the Venla Relay, is a daytime race on the Saturday afternoon. It is named after the main female character from the novel.
Vroni König-Salmi is a Swiss orienteering competitor. She won the 2001 Sprint distance World Orienteering Championships, and is two times Relay World Champion, from 2003 and 2005, as member of the Swiss winning teams. Also an individual bronze medal from 2005, and Relay bronze medals from 1997 and 2006. Married to Finnish orienteer Janne Salmi.
Simone Niggli-Luder is a Swiss orienteering athlete who has twice won all four women's competitions at the world championships. She is widely seen as one of the greatest orienteers of all time.
Ivar Formo was a Norwegian cross-country skier and orienteer who competed during the 1970s.
Daniel Hubmann is a Swiss orienteering competitor, world champion in all three individual disciplines and multiple winner of the overall Orienteering World Cup. He is the brother of Martin Hubmann.
Sinikka Kukkonen is a Finnish orienteering competitor. She is World Champion in both orienteering and ski orienteering. She became the first World Champion in ski orienteering, in 1975.
Magne Dæhli is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, ski-orienteer and cross-country skier. His achievements include five medals in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships, of which three are gold medals. His best individual performances include a silver medal in the long distance from the European Orienteering Championships, and a fourth place in both the middle and long distances from the world championships.

Ruslan Gritsan is a Russian competitor and multiple world champion in both ski-orienteering and mountain bike orienteering.
Olga Novikova is a Kazakhstani ski-orienteering competitor. She was born in Kazakhstan, and later moved to Russia. She is Junior World Champion from 2004. She won a silver medal at the World Ski Orienteering Championships in 2007, competing for Russia. Competing for Kazakhstan, she placed third overall in the World Cup in 2010, and won four gold medals at the 2011 Asian Winter Games.
Valborg Olive Engesæter Madslien is a Norwegian ski-orienteering competitor.
Hanna Kosonen is a Finnish ski-orienteering competitor and politician. She won a bronze medal in the long distance at the 2000 World Ski Orienteering Championships in Krasnoyarsk, and a gold medal in the relay. She has been a member of the Finnish Parliament for the Centre Party since 2015. On 9 August 2019 Kosonen was appointed as Minister of Science and Culture, replacing Annika Saarikko, who took maternity leave. Saarikko will reassume her post in August 2020.
Svetlana Haustova is a Russian ski-orienteering competitor. She won a bronze medal in the short distance at the 1996 World Ski Orienteering Championships in Lillehammer, and a silver medal with the Russian relay team.
Mika Tervala is a Finnish mountain bike orienteering competitor, World Champion and European Champion. He won individual gold medals at the 2002, 2006 and 2007 World Championships, and a gold medal in the relay in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Mika coaches the Finnish national mountain bike orienteering teams since spring 2008.
Michaela Gigon is an Austrian mountain bike orienteer and several times world champion. She has competed at all World MTB Orienteering Championships from 2002 to 2010, won individual gold medals in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010, and in relay in 2009.
Christine Schaffner is a Swiss mountain bike orienteer and world champion. She has participated in all seven World MTB Orienteering Championships from 2004 to 2010, and won gold medals in the long distance four times, in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Ksenia Chernykh is a Russian mountain bike orienteer and World Champion. She won individual gold medals at the 2007 and 2008 World MTB Orienteering Championships, and a relay gold medal in 2006.

Judith Wyder is a Swiss orienteering and ski orienteering competitor.
Emil Svensk is a Swedish orienteering competitor. He was born in Borlänge. He won a gold medal in the middle distance at the 2013 Junior World Orienteering Championships.At the 2018 European Orienteering Championships in Cadempino he won a silver medal in the mixed sprint relay with the Swedish team. He competed at the 2018 World Orienteering Championships in Latvia, where he placed sixth in the sprint final, and won a gold medal in the mixed sprint relay, together with Karolin Ohlsson, Jonas Leandersson and Tove Alexandersson.. In the 2019 World Orienteering Championships in Norway he participated in the winning Swedish relay team.
Turun Suunnistajat is a Finnish orienteering club, located in Turku. The club was established in 1954.
