Tero Kaukomaa is a Finnish film producer [1] and the winner of the 'Producer of the Year Award' in 2012 from Suomen Elokuvatuottajien Keskusliitto (The Central Organization of Finnish Film Producers) for Iron Sky . [2] [3] [4]
In 1997, Kaukomaa founded Blind Spot Pictures Oy as a production house to produce or co-produce feature-films for international markets. Blind Spot Pictures produced the film Iron Sky for Timo Vuorensola as a dark science fiction comedy about Nazis on the moon. They also had several features in development, including pre-production on Antti-Jussi Annila's werewolf inversion titled Human, and Iron Sky sequel Iron Sky: The Coming Race , financed through crowdfunding [5] on Indie GoGo, [6] on a script by American screenwriter Dalan Musson which had been released to over 1,000 fans for review and input. [7] In 2012, Iron Sky director Vuorensola joined as partner with the Kaukomaa's company. [8] As of 17 September, 2019, Blind Spot Pictures Oy declared bankruptcy. [9]
Kaukomaa is also Chairman of the Board of Iron Sky Universe Oy, the production company of Iron Sky: The Coming Race together with Timo Vuorensola, who is deputy member of the board. [10] On 5 November, 2019, Kaukomaa stated on the Iron Sky: The Coming Race crowdfunding campaign site that the company was facing financial difficulties and that fan Steelbook production was put on hold. Blind Spot Pictures, the main production company for Iron Sky 2012 has been declared bankrupt since 17 September 2019. [12] [13] [14]
Iron Sky Universe have been filed for bankruptcy as reported by Finnish news on 13th of October 2020. This was also confirmed by Iron Sky Universe the same day. [15] [16] Kaukomaa's partner, Timo Vuorensola also confirmed that Iron Sky Universe had been filed for bankruptcy, "The production company of Iron Sky, called Iron Sky Universe, one which I jointly set up with Tero, is going under." [17]
In 2012, Suomen Elokuvatuottajien Keskusliitto (The Central Organization of Finnish Film Producers), awarded Tero Kaukomaa with their 'Producer of the Year Award', "its highest honor" and praised him for his "extremely bold and innovative approach to financing and producing Iron Sky ". [3]
Pertti Olavi "Spede" Pasanen was a Finnish film director and producer, comedian, and inventor. During his career he directed, wrote, produced or acted in about 50 movies and participated in numerous TV productions, including the comedy Spede Show and the game-show Speden Spelit. Much of his more commercial work was in collaboration with Vesa-Matti Loiri and Simo Salminen. Pasanen's films and TV shows, often made quickly and on a low budget, usually received little critical recognition but were popular among Finnish audiences from the 1960s onwards. He was the owner of his own film production company, Filmituotanto Spede Pasanen Ky.
The 69 Eyes are Finnish rock band. It was founded in 1989 in Helsinki by vocalist Jyrki 69, guitarists Bazie, Timo-Timo and bassist Archzie, joined in 1992 by drummer Jussi 69; the lineup never changed since then. Iron Sky is one of the most expensive Finnish films.
Timo Vuorensola is a Finnish film director, singer and actor. He has directed Star Wreck movies Star Wreck V: Lost Contact, and Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning, created by Samuli Torssonen. Vuorensola plays Lieutenant Dwarf in the films, and directed the film Iron Sky. He is also the lead vocalist and co-founder of dark industrial band Älymystö.
Timo Salminen is a Finnish cinematographer best known for his artistic work in Aki Kaurismäki's films. Salminen's father Ville Salminen was a famed Finnish film actor, director, writer and producer whose career began in the 1930s and lasted until the 1980s. His older step brother Ville-Veikko Salminen was a comedic actor whose career also lasted over 50 years.
Pirjo Irene Honkasalo is a Finnish film director who has also worked as a cinematographer, film editor, producer, screenwriter and actress. In 1980 she co-directed Flame Top with Pekka Lehto, with whom she worked earlier and later as well. The film was chosen for the 1981 Cannes Film Festival. In the 1990s she focused on feature documentaries such as "The Trilogy of the Sacred and the Satanic". Honkasalo returned to fiction with Fire-Eater (1998) and Concrete Night (2013), both of which were written by Pirkko Saisio. Concrete Night won six Jussi Awards in 2014, among them the Jussi for the Best Direction and the Jussi for the Best Film. Its world premiere was at the Toronto International Film Festival in Masters series.

Like its predecessor, the film mixes political themes with repeated allusions to the popular culture and various conspiracy theories, but is generally more action-adventure oriented. A major inspiration of the content is the Vril conspiracy theory.
