Terry Van Akkeren (born March 10,1954) is an American politician,engineering technician,and die and tool maker.
Van Akkeren graduated from Sheboygan North High School and went to Lakeshore Technical College. He worked as an engineering technician and tool and die maker. He also served on the Sheboygan County Board of Supervisors. [1]
From 2002 until 2010,Van Akkeren served in the Wisconsin State Assembly,as a Democrat,representing the 26th Assembly District. [1] On November 2,2010,Van Akkeren was defeated for election by Mike Endsley. [2]
Van Akkeren unsuccessfully ran for Mayor of Sheboygan in 2009. He lost to Alderman Bob Ryan 3,968 votes to 5,891. He ran again in 2012 when a special recall election was called.
On February 21,2012,Van Akkeren defeated Mayor Bob Ryan in the mayoral recall election. [3] On March 5,2012,Van Akkeren was sworn in as Mayor of Sheboygan. [4] After serving the remaining months of former Mayor Ryan's four-year term,Van Akkeren lost his reelection bid to Sheboygan County Supervisor Mike Vandersteen by a vote of 4,059 to 3,862. [5] On November 4,2014,Terry Katsma defeated Van Akkeren for the Wisconsin State Assembly seat. [6]

Sheboygan Municipal Auditorium and Armory was a 52,000 sq. ft indoor arena located on the lakefront in Sheboygan,Wisconsin. It was built in Streamline Moderne style in 1941 as a Works Progress Administration project. The building seated 3,974 with permanent balcony seating and bleacher seating on the floor level. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. It was razed in 2020.

The school opened in 1938 in what is now Urban Middle School on the city's north side,with the current building opening just northeast of Urban in 1961;the 1938 facility had been designed originally as a north side junior high school as a complement to the South Side Junior High School,but during building was converted to a senior high school in the midst of Sheboygan's population at the time growing to the north.

The 2021 Spring primary was held on February 16,2021.
