A drum machine is an electronic musical instrument that creates percussion sounds, drum beats, and patterns. Drum machines may imitate drum kits or other percussion instruments, or produce unique sounds, such as synthesized electronic tones. Most modern drum machines allow users to program their own rhythms and beats. Drum machines may create sounds using analog synthesis or play prerecorded samples. Some drum machines have buttons or pads that allow the performer to play drum sounds "live", either on top of a programmed drum beat or as a standalone performance. Drum machines have a range of capabilities, which go from playing a short beat pattern in a loop, to being able to program or record complex song arrangements with changes of meter and style.
In music, a single is a type of release, typically a song recording of fewer tracks than an LP record or an album. This can be released for sale to the public in a variety of formats. In most cases, a single is a song that is released separately from an album, although it usually also appears on an album. Typically, these are the songs from albums that are released separately for promotional uses such as digital download, or video release. In other cases a recording released as a single may not appear on an album.

A test card, also known as a test pattern or start-up/closedown test, is a television test signal, typically broadcast at times when the transmitter is active but no program is being broadcast. Used since the earliest TV broadcasts, test cards were originally physical cards at which a television camera was pointed, and such cards are still often used for calibration, alignment, and matching of cameras and camcorders. Test patterns used for calibrating or troubleshooting the downstream signal path are these days generated by test signal generators, which do not depend on the correct configuration of a camera, and can also test for additional parameters such as sync, frames per second, and frequency. Digitally generated cards allow vendors, viewers and television stations to adjust their equipment for optimal functionality. The audio broadcast while test cards are shown is typically a sine wave tone, radio or music. More recently, the use of test cards has also expanded beyond television to other digital displays such as large LED walls and video projectors.

Sonia Dada was an American rock/soul/rhythm and blues band, which tours with between six and eight members. The Chicago-based band formed in 1990, when founding member Daniel Pritzker enlisted Michael Scott, Paris Delane, and Sam Hogan after hearing them sing in a subway station. Sonia Dada has become a mainstay of the Chicago musical scene in the years since, incorporating elements of rock, soul, gospel, and funk.
Blue Peter is a Canadian new wave synthpop band founded in 1978 in Markham, Ontario by Chris Wardman and Paul Humphrey. In their heyday, Blue Peter opened for major international acts such as the Police and Simple Minds. The video for "Don't Walk Past", directed by Rob Quartly, was No. 85 on MuchMusic's top videos of the century list, and was played on MTV in the United States, in spite of the lack of American record distribution for the band. The band continues to perform, on occasion.

The song "Same Old Place", later appeared on the compilation album, The Best of Ready Volume 1 :: 20th Century Masters — The Millennium Collection, and in 2009 was included on the soundtrack for the vampire/rock and roll movie Suck; the latter event led to Blue Peter performing in 2009 at the Toronto International Film Festival at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto, for the film's premiere.

Red Returns is an EP by the indie rock band Desario, released in April, 2016 on Test Pattern Records. The EP follows the band's full-length album Mixer and several years of successful live shows, including opening for Echo & The Bunnymen, The Charlatans UK, Foals, and others of the same sound or genre. The EP preceded the October 28, 2016 release of another EP titled Haunted. In a pre-Red Returns launch interview with The Blog That Celebrates Itself, Desario stated: "There will be another follow-up EP later this year. As a band we have a batch of new songs that we want to record soon. We feel our new songs are pushing us into new areas of songwriting that we haven’t been before."
