Banaadir is an administrative region (gobol) in southeastern Somalia. It covers the same area as the city of Mogadishu,which serves as the capital. It is the only region in the country not belonging to any of the six states. It is bordered to the northwest by the Shabelle river,and to the southeast by the Indian Ocean. He stepped down on 7 September 2022 after the new president of Somalia,Hassan Sheikh Mohamud,reappointed Yusuf Hussein Jimaale as the new mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of Banaadir.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is a Somali politician who has served as the president of Somalia since May 2022,having previously held the office from 2012 to 2017. He is the founder and current chairman of the Union for Peace and Development Party. He was indirectly elected as President of the Federal Republic of Somalia on 15 May 2022,defeating the incumbent president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed. Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir,,commonly known only as Fahad Yasin,is a Somali civil servant and politician,as well as a former journalist. He was also the campaign manager for Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed "Farmaajo" in the 2017 elections. After the elections,he was appointed Chief of Staff for Villa Somalia and then Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). Farmaajo subsequently appointed him as his national security advisor. The intelligence offices of the Somali regional governments (under the National Intelligence Directorate had appointed Abdalla Yasin Jama Mohamed Dalaf as the director of head of intelligence and submission of terrorist information for the Puntland regional government.
Yusuf Hussein Jimaale,popularly known as Madale,is the current and former Mayor of Mogadishu and the Governor of the Banadir region. He was formerly the Secretary of the Peace and Development Party. He first assumed office on November 2,2015. He was later replaced in April 2017 by Thabit Abdi Mohammed.
Abdi Hassan Mohamed "Hijaar" is a Somali police chief and former Army officer. His last position held was Police Commissioner of the Somali Police Force.

Hamza Abdi Barre is a Somali politician who has served as the prime minister of Somalia since 2022. He was nominated on 15 June 2022,by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud,and he was endorsed by parliament on 25 June 2022. Hamza is also a parliamentarian elected to the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia on 28 December 2021,representing the Afmadow constituency of Middle Juba.
