The thirteenth legislative assembly election, of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led (DMK) front won the elections, with the DMK emerging as the single-largest party with 96 seats, and its leader, M Karunanidhi was sworn in as Chief Minister for a fifth and final term. This election marked the first time the state saw a hung assembly with no party gaining a majority of its own. As a result, DMK formed a minority government with its allies, which is the first in the state since the 1952 election. 13th Assembly was instituted due to this election.

Paul Hector Pandian was an Indian politician of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu from Tirunelveli district. He served as the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1989. He served as Deputy Speaker and Speaker of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 21 June 1980 to 5 February 1989. He was one of the only two candidates elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislature from the V. N. Janaki Ramachandran Faction of AIADMK in 1989, when he won the Cheranmahadevi seat. He was the organising secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam which was led by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Peravurani is a state assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu. Peravurani constituency created on the year of 1967 on delimitation of Pattukkottai Assembly constituency. It elects a member to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly once every five years. From the 1967 elections, Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won the assembly seat three times, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won the assembly seat three times, Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) won two times by 1996 and 2001 elections and Indian National Congress two times won the seat and Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam won the seat in 2011 election. The current member of legislative assembly N. Ashok Kumar from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu, in India.

P. H. Manoj Pandian is a politician and current Member of the Legislative Assembly for Alangulam constituency. Kaveripattinam Poongavanam Munusamy is an Indian politician and deputy general secretary of AIADMK and incumbent member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Krishnagiri Constituency. Munusamy completed his Bachelor of Arts from Govt. Arts College, Krishnagiri during 1971-1974 and later graduated Bachelor of Law from Government Law College, Chennai. Sathyavani Muthu was an Indian politician and an influential leader from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu, Rajya Sabha member and Union Minister. She began her political career as a member of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, began her own party, Thazhthapattor Munnetra Kazhagam and later joined the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In late 1990s, she again joined in DMK.

K. Kannaiyan is an Indian Tamil politician and was a Member of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu.
