Gairsain is a town in Chamoli district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand near state's summer capital Bhararisain. A town and Nagar Panchayat, Gairsain is situated at the eastern edge of the vast Dudhatoli mountain range, and is located in Chamoli district almost at the centre of the state, at a distance of approximately 250 kilometres from Dehradun. It is easily accessible from both the Garhwal and the Kumaon divisions, and in a way, acts as the bridge between the two regions. It is being considered as the future Permanent capital of Uttarakhand.

Sarola Brahmin, also called Saryul and Serul are Garhwali Brahmins from Uttarakhand, India. Sarola Brahmins were the earliest authenticated and ritually most prestigious Brahmin baronial families in the then small Garhwal Kingdom 1400 years ago and among the highest and oldest noble lineages from across North India. The capital of this kingdom was Chandpur Garhi and twelve castes of Brahmins settled in twelve fiefs surrounding the capital. Their twelve ancestral lands were collectively known as "Bara Than" meaning "Barah Sthan", and the Brahmins who owned these estates were known as "Sarola" Brahmins. Over time, the High Brahmins spread their holdings and came to hold vast swathes of the Himalayan Kingdoms as the major landowning class.

Shiv Prasad Dabral, known by his pen name Charan, was an Indian historian, geographer, academic and writer from Uttarakhand. He is also known as 'Encyclopedia of Uttarakhand'. He started writing from 1931 onwards. He is the author of the monumental history of Uttarakhand in 18 volumes, 2 collections of poetry, 9 plays, and several edited volumes in Hindi and Garhwali. His Uttarakhand ka Itihaas is widely used by scholars as reference work. He authored several books on the archeology and ecology of Uttarakhand. To his credit, Charan saved 22 rare books of Garhwali language from extinction by republishing them at his own press. He also rediscovered a rare poetry manuscript of Mola Ram.
Bari Path is a road in Patna, the capital of Bihar. It was named after Professor Abdul Bari in 1948 after his murder in Khusrupur, Patna. Bari House was situated on this road. Mahatma Gandhi came to Bari House on 29 March 1947, the day after Bari's death. It connects Gandhi Chowk to Gandhi Maidan, runs parallel to Ashok Rajpath.
