New jack swing, new jack, or swingbeat is a fusion genre of the rhythms and production techniques of hip hop and dance-pop, and the urban contemporary sound of R&B. Spearheaded by producers Teddy Riley, Bernard Belle, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, new jack swing was most popular from the late 1980s to early 1990s.
"Something in Common" is a song by American singers Bobby Brown and then-wife Whitney Houston, that was featured on Brown's third album, Bobby (1992). The single version was re-recorded and released in December 1993 by MCA, and was also available on Brown's 1993 compilation album Remixes in the Key of B. Houston won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for this song. In 2003, Q Magazine ranked "It's Not Right but It's Okay" at number 638 in their list of the "1001 Best Songs Ever". The single reached number one in Spain and the top five in Canada, Iceland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
"Say Goodbye" is a song recorded by American singer Chris Brown. Released on August 8, 2006, from his self-titled debut album, the song is also featured in the movie Step Up. It became Brown's third top-ten single on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number ten on October 31, 2006, and the second single of his career to top the R&B charts. The track was released as a single in the UK and US. It was his first single to not chart at all in the UK.
"Cry for You" is a song by American R&B group Jodeci recorded for their second album, Diary of a Mad Band (1993). The song was released as the album's lead single in November 1993. It peaked at number fifteen on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and also spent four weeks at number one on the R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart, and number one Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart. The song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales in excess of 500,000 units.
"Hip Hop Hooray" is a song by American hip hop group, Naughty by Nature, released in December 1992 as the first single from their third album, 19 Naughty III (1993). The song spent one week at number one on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100. It contains samples from "Funky President" by James Brown, "Don't Change Your Love" by Five Stairsteps, "Make Me Say it Again, Girl" by Isley Brothers, "You Can't Turn Me Away" by Sylvia Striplin and "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel. Pete Rock made a remix that samples Cannonball Adderley's "74 Miles Away". It was certified Platinum by the RIAA and has sold over 1,100,000 copies in the United States.
"Humpin' Around" is a song by American singer Bobby Brown. It is rumored that the song was originally titled "Fuckin' Around", with the name later changed to make it more radio friendly, and to avoid potential censorship. The song contains an interpolation of "Dancing Days" by Led Zeppelin.

"Post to Be" is a song by American singer Omarion featuring fellow American singers Chris Brown and Jhené Aiko from the former's fourth studio album, Sex Playlist (2014). The artists co-wrote the song alongside Ty Dolla $ign and producer DJ Mustard. The track was released as the album's second single on November 11, 2014. Musically the song is a hip hop club track that is built over a clap-heavy West Coast production. The official remix of the song was released on February 19, 2021, and features fellow American rappers Future, Lil Durk, and Latto.
