The twelve-inch single is a type of vinyl gramophone record that has wider groove spacing and shorter playing time with a 'single' or a few related sound tracks on each surface, compared to LPs which have several songs on each side. This allows for louder levels to be cut on the disc by the mastering engineer, which in turn gives a wider dynamic range, and thus better sound quality. This record type is commonly used in disco and dance music genres, where DJs use them to play in clubs. They are played at either 33 1⁄3 or 45 rpm. The conventional 7‐inch single usually holds three or four minutes of music at full volume. The 12‐inch LP sacrifices volume for extended playing time. In the 1970s, a hybrid was created, the 12‐inch single.
"I Like to Move It" is a song by American electronic dance solo project Reel 2 Real, featuring ragga vocals by Trinidad and Tobago rapper The Mad Stuntman. The song appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1994, peaking at number 89 and reached number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. It was a number-one hit in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Zimbabwe. On the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, it peaked at number 8.
"Rapture" is a song by the American pop/rock band Blondie from their fifth studio album, Autoamerican (1980).
"One for Sorrow" is a song by British pop-dance group Steps that became the quintet's first single to reach the top five on the UK Singles Chart. Debuting at number two and spending 11 weeks on the UK chart, the song established Steps's intention to revive the ABBA sound, striking a considerable resemblance to their hit "The Winner Takes It All". A remixed version of this song became their debut US single in 1999 and was featured on the Drive Me Crazy film soundtrack. It became Steps' only single to appear on any US Billboard chart, peaking at number 38 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart in October 1999.
"Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up" is a song written, produced and recorded by Barry White for his second album, Stone Gon' (1973). In June 1973, it was released as the first single in the United States and reached number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. It became a gold record. In Europe, it was issued in early 1974 and peaked at number 14 on the UK Singles Chart.
"It Only Takes a Minute" is a 1975 song by Tavares. The song was the group's only Top 10 pop hit in the United States, peaking at number 10, and their second number one song on the American soul charts. On the US Disco chart, "It Only Takes a Minute" spent five weeks at #2 and was the first of four entries on the chart. The song was subsequently covered by Jonathan King performing as 100 Ton and a Feather in 1976 and by boy band Take That in 1992.
"My Love Is for Real" is a song by Paula Abdul with backing vocals from Israeli singer Ofra Haza. It was released as the first single from Abdul's third studio album, Head over Heels, on May 30, 1995. Intended as Abdul's comeback single, "My Love Is for Real" reached number one in Hungary and the top 20 in Australia, Canada and New Zealand, but it stalled outside the top 20 in the United States, peaking at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, and failed to make a major impact in Europe.

"Love's About to Change My Heart" is the third single from Another Place and Time, the 1989 album by Donna Summer. The song was released on August 14, 1989 by Atlantic Records and Warner Bros. Records. It was written and produced by British production team Stock Aitken & Waterman. Released as the second single in the US, the song was another commercial failure for Summer in the US.
"Oye" is a 1998 song by American singer and songwriter Gloria Estefan. It was released as the second single by Epic Records from her eighth studio album, gloria!. The song was written by Estefan, her husband Emilio Estefan, Jr., Randall Barlow and Angie Chirino and produced by Estefan, Jr. and Tony Moran. The song bears the most resemblance to a club song on the entire album and probably the one that became the most popular with this release. Unfortunately, in the US the single was planned for commercial release on July 14, 1998 on various formats, but at the last minute the release was cancelled. The single was released worldwide in many other countries and took the highest position on many charts, including number-one in Spain and on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
"Crucified" is a 1991 song by the Swedish band Army of Lovers. It is the first single from their second album, Massive Luxury Overdose and the seventh single to be released by the band. It was released on May 1991, February–April 1992, and July 2013. It was written by Alexander Bard, Anders Wollbeck and Jean-Pierre Barda and features Barda, Bard and La Camilla. The song was successful in several European countries, including Belgium, where it reached the number-one, and Germany, Sweden, Austria and Switzerland, where it reached the Top 10. In the United States, "Crucified" became a huge club hit and radio favorite, debuting at number 6 on the Billboard Dance singles chart and spending a total of 14 weeks in the Top 20. The two remixes available on the CD maxi and vinyl 12" maxi are made by Nuzak.
"This Is the Right Time" is a song recorded by British singer Lisa Stansfield for her 1989 album, Affection. It was written by Stansfield, Ian Devaney and Andy Morris, and produced by Coldcut. The song was released as the first European single on 31 July 1989. It included "Affection," "Big Thing" and remixes created by David Dorrell, CJ Mackintosh, Paul Witts and Eddie Gordon. The music video was directed by Big TV!. One year later, on 30 July 1990, "This Is the Right Time" was issued as the third North American single. It included previously unreleased track, "My Apple Heart" and new remixes created by Shep Pettibone and Yvonne Turner. The second music video for the North American market was directed by Jimmy Fletcher. In September 1990, just before Stansfield's European tour, the double A-side single "This Is the Right Time"/"You Can't Deny It" with new US remixes was released in selected European countries. In Japan, "This Is the Right Time" was released as a single on 3 October 1990.
"I'm a Fire" is the first single from Donna Summer's seventeenth studio album, Crayons. The song was released on March 11, 2008 by Burgundy Records. It was written by Summer, Sebastian Morton and Al Kasha and produced by Morton. The club single reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, giving Summer her 13th number-one and giving her the longest timespan between first (1975) and most recent (2008) Hot Dance Club Play chart #1s, Madonna has been the only artist to match this feat so far.
"Keep On Jumpin'" is the name of a popular 1970s disco song that was written by musician Patrick Adams and Ken Morris. This track has been remade, remixed, and sampled numerous times, but only the 1978 original by Adams's group Musique and Todd Terry's 1996 updated version with Martha Wash & Jocelyn Brown reached number one on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play charts. "Something Goin' On " is a 1997 single by American DJ, record producer and remixer Todd Terry featuring American singers Martha Wash and Jocelyn Brown on vocals. The original song title was shortened to "Something Goin’ On" upon its release as a single, even though the full title was listed on Todd Terry’s Ready for a New Day album. The song peaked within the top 5 in Italy and the UK. It also reached number-one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart the week of July 26, 1997 and spent one week there. The track is the follow-up to their version of "Keep on Jumpin'", which also reached number-one on the Hot Dance Club Play in 1996, and would be the second of two back to back number-ones on the Dance Club Play chart for this collaboration between the three artists.

"Never Gonna Let You Go" is a single by American singer Tina Moore. Originally released in 1995, the song reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In 1997, a UK garage remix of the song by Kelly G was released and became a top 10 hit in the UK, peaking at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart. On the Eurochart Hot 100, it reached number 23 in September 1997. Several remixes are included on the CD and 12" formats, such as the 'Tuff Jam Classic Vocal Mix' and 'Warehouse Junkie Mix'.
"One More Time" is the lead single from the album, One More Time by the German Eurodance and Pop music project Real McCoy. Released in 1997, it was a Top 5 single in Australia, where it was certified Platinum. "Stand Up" is a single written and originally recorded in 1996 by the American house music studio group Love Tribe, featuring American Dance songstress Latanza Waters. The original version, notable for using the keyboard sampling from Machine's 1979 Disco classic "There but for the Grace of God Go I," became their only number one chart-topper on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart, reaching that summit on August 31, 1996 for a one-week stay, as well as a number 89 placement on the Hot 100 Chart in January 1997. It reached #23 in the UK Singles Chart in July that same year.
