Galactus is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Formerly a mortal man, he is a cosmic entity who consumes planets to sustain his life force, and serves a functional role in the upkeep of the primary Marvel continuity. He was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Fantastic Four #48.
Percival Lowell was an American businessman, author, mathematician, and astronomer who fueled speculation that there were canals on Mars, and furthered theories of a ninth planet within the Solar System. The habitability of red dwarf systems is presumed to be determined by a large number of factors from a variety of sources. Modern evidence indicates that planets in red dwarf systems are unlikely to be habitable, due to their low stellar flux, high probability of tidal locking and thus likely lack of magnetospheres and atmospheres, small circumstellar habitable zones and the high stellar variation experienced by planets of red dwarf stars, impeding their planetary habitability. However, the ubiquity and longevity of red dwarfs are factors which could provide ample opportunity for any possibility of habitability to be realized. As red dwarf stars are by far the most common type of star in the universe, astronomers study how each of the many factors, and the interactions among them, could affect their habitability to learn more about the frequency and most likely locations of extraterrestrial life and intelligence.

The series takes place in the 1980s and 90s and is presented as a collection of clips from VHS tapes produced by various fictional companies and distributed by the eponymous company Gemini Home Entertainment. Though superficially self-contained and exploring a variety of seemingly harmless topics, such as wildlife, technology and astronomy, the clips also tell an overarching story of extraterrestrial invasion and the impending end of the world.
