The Blasting Company, formerly known as the Petrojvic Blasting Company, is an American nouveau- folk band based in Los Angeles, California. [2] The band was founded in 2008 by half-brothers Justin Rubenstein and J.R. Kaufman and the group has since expanded to include five members. [2]

The band composed the soundtrack for the Cartoon Network mini-series Over the Garden Wall . [3]

Style

The band's music is inspired by the music of Eastern Europe, particularly the music of the Balkans, [2] and New Orleans dixie. [4] The band has also been noted for its folk influences and Bohemian style. [5]

The band uses a variety of more orthodox instruments including an accordion, as well as a Macedonian tapan. [2]

Performances and projects

The band regularly performs in Los Angeles, and plays every Sunday at the Hollywood Farmers' Market. [2]

The band wrote the soundtrack for the television miniseries Over the Garden Wall , for which it was critically acclaimed. [6] [7] The extended version of the soundtrack was debuted at the San Diego Comic Con in 2016. [7]

The band provided a theme for a fan made Dungeons and Dragon's projected titled The Crooked Moon. [8] They have also been offered to make further music including themes and ambiance tracks for the individual campaigns within the expansion.

Voltron is an animated television series franchise that features a team of space explorers who pilot a giant super robot known as "Voltron". Produced by Peter Keefe and Ted Koplar through his production company World Events Productions, Voltron was an adaptation of several Japanese anime television series from Toei Animation. The original television series aired in syndication from September 10, 1984, to November 18, 1985. The first season of Voltron, featuring the "Lion Force Voltron", was adapted from the series Beast King GoLion. Over the Garden Wall is an American animated television miniseries created by Patrick McHale for Cartoon Network. The series centers on two half-brothers who travel across a mysterious forest to find their way home, encountering a variety of strange and fantastical things on their journey. The show is based on McHale's animated short film Tome of the Unknown, which was produced as part of Cartoon Network Studios' shorts development program. Elijah Wood and Collin Dean voice the protagonists Wirt and Greg, and Melanie Lynskey voices Beatrice, a bluebird. The series' voice cast also includes Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry, Bebe Neuwirth, Chris Isaak, Shirley Jones, Thomas Lennon, Jack Jones, Jerron Paxton, John Cleese and Samuel Ramey. Over the Garden Wall (Original Television Soundtrack) is the soundtrack to the 2014 animated television miniseries of the same name for Cartoon Network created by Patrick McHale. Two years after the series' premiere, the music from the series were released into a separate soundtrack album on July 21, 2016 by Turner Music Publishing and Cartoon Network, distributed in a vinyl LP by Mondo at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con. It featured 32 tracks from the series' with vocal performances and instrumental tunes composed by The Blasting Company.
