The Boxtones is a Dubai-based rock band composed of Scottish and Canadian musicians. [1] [2]

In September 2013 the band won the Rolling Stone ‘Street to stage’ competition [3] [4] [5] [6] and in January 2014, released their first album, In the Pockets of Clowns [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] from which the two singles 'After All is Said and Done" and 'UFO' were released. [13] In April 2014 the band won the regional heat of Hard Rock Cafe's 'Hard Rock Rising' competition. [14]

Throughout 2014 and 2015, the band played at a few high-profile concerts that saw them perform alongside numerous international superstars such as Pharrell Williams, The Who, Stereophonics, Lily Allen, Jason Derulo, The Parlotones, Richard Ashcroft, Razorlight, The Ting Tings and 80's music icons Europe. On 25 February 2015, The Boxtones signed a record deal with Universal Music Group Middle East & North Africa (MENA). [15] [16] [17] [18]

The Boxtones’ debut album Home was released on 25 November 2016 through Universal Music MENA. So far, singles "Against the Odds", [19] [20] “City of Mirrors” (featuring Dubai-based rapper Two-Tone), [21] “Home” [22] and “Do I Look Like Somebody You Could Love” [23] have been released, each with its own official music video.

In recent years, The Boxtones have performed alongside Liam Gallagher, Kaiser Chiefs, Blur, Florence & The Machine, Enrique Iglesias, Travis, Chemical Brothers, The Charlatans and The Temples. They were announced as the support for the Elton John concert that took place at the 13,500-capacity Dubai Autism Rocks Arena in January 2018, the same venue where they opened for Bryan Adams in March 2017. Marwan Parham Al Awadhi, better known by his stage name DJ Bliss, is an Emirati disc jockey, emcee, TV presenter, and radio personality working in Dubai. In addition to being actively involved in the nightclub and DJ scene in Dubai, he is known for his music production including co-producing Wyclef Jean and releasing his own single and compilation album The Projects. The album was released on BMGI Middle East and was top 10 on the Middle East album chart of Virgin.

Sho? was a short-lived Dubai-based band, whose music could best be classified as a mixture of rock, alternative, punk and electronica. Made up of expatriates, they were active in the Dubai rock music scene for about eighteen months. They released one internet-only single, entitled Crash and one EP, entitled I Don't Wanna Go. Their name was a version of the Arabic word, "Sho", which roughly translates into English as, "What." The band officially announced their dissolution in January 2011.

Ali Al Sayed is a comedian based in Dubai. Al Sayed was named "one of the most influential comedians in the world" by Toastmasters International Magazine and was recently dubbed the “King of Laughter” by a group of university students competing for an internship with Rolling Stone ME. Al Sayed is the founder of the local entertainment company Viva Arts and is the co-director of Dubomedy Arts, the first and only Comedy and Urban Arts School in the MENA region.

"Girls" is a song by American singer Jennifer Lopez from her eighth studio album, A.K.A. (2014). The composition is characterized as a midtempo R&B and hip hop club song that serves as an ode to women's desires in wanting to indulge themselves in a quintessentially jovial girl's night out experience by going out for a night at the club, reveling in the joy of partying in addition to partaking in the concomitant celebratory act of having a good time. The song was written by Lopez along with Asia Bryant and Dijon "DJ Mustard" McFarlane. The latter produced the song and vocals, with further vocal production from Bryan, Cory Rooney and Trevor Muzzy. The song was released as a promotional single by Capitol Records in countdown to the album on January 22, 2014. On March 1, an official remix featuring American rapper Tyga was released for digital download; the remix with him is featured on the Japanese and Target releases of A.K.A, whilst the solo version is omitted from all versions of the album.

Vin Sinners is a UAE based rock band started in 2009 in Chennai, India by Vin Nair a.k.a Big Daddy Vin. Their first album, An Element of Surprise, was released in December 2011. The album was subsequently released on ArtistAloud.com to cater to Indian audiences, and within two weeks of release, three singles reached the top of the radioandmusic.com charts.

It is focused on film distribution for major studios from around the world as well as independent English and Arabic films catering to audiences across the Middle East. Gulf Film is the distribution rights owner of more than 150 titles – that's almost half of the films distributed in the region. Gulf Film is by far the largest film distributor in the Middle East.

Carl & The Reda Mafia is a Dubai-based band formed in October 2014. The group consists of Carl Frenais from India, Tarek Reda from Egypt, Christos Asimakopoulos from Greece (bassist) and Abimbola Durojaye "Bims" from Nigeria (drummer). The band comprises a mixture of backgrounds that resulted in a hybrid sound known as "Funk Jam" combining elements of funk, rock and roll and blues with a pop music twist.

Dance FM UAE was a dance radio station, from Dubai, belonging to Shock Middle East, which broadcast on 97.8FM in the Emirate of Dubai, UAE, and online. It was officially launched in September 2016 as the first full dance music radio station in the UAE.

The 2017–18 UAE League Cup is the tenth season of the UAE League Cup. The competition started on September 4, 2017.

Mohammed Abood Uraibi, best known as DJ MoCity or simply Mo, is an Iraqi-born DJ, MC and promoter, known for having co-founded Reggae Rajahs, the first Reggae Sound System in India. MoCity also founded The 264 Cru, a Dubai-based music, arts and culture collective, 264 Records, a record label based in Dubai, and most recently boxout.fm, South Asia’s first online community radio.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Esther Eden</span> Musical artist

Esther Eden Fernandes is an Indian singer-songwriter based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She rose to fame in 2014 when singer Jessie J invited her to perform at her concert at the Red Fest DXB. In 2016, as an independent artist she premiered her debut single "Phoenix".
