The Christmas Song is an EP by American country artist Jamey Johnson. It was released on November 19, 2014 as the first release by Johnson's own label, Big Gassed Records. [1]

Jamey Johnson is an American country music artist. Signed to BNA Records in 2005, Johnson made his debut with his single "The Dollar", the title track to his 2006 album The Dollar. Johnson was dropped from BNA in 2006 and signed to Mercury Nashville Records in March 2008, releasing his second album, the gold-certified That Lonesome Song. This album produced two singles, the Top 10 hit "In Color" and "High Cost of Living". Johnson has since released two more albums, The Guitar Song in 2010 and Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran in 2012. In 2014, he released a 5-song Christmas EP titled The Christmas Song. In addition to most of his own material, Johnson has co-written singles for Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, Trace Adkins, George Strait, James Otto, Joe Nichols and Jessie James Decker.

The album features four covers of Christmas- and holiday-themed songs, in addition to an original composition by Johnson, "South Alabam Christmas". The song is the first new original composition by Johnson since The Guitar Song was released in 2010. [1]

Initially released to digital retailers in 2007 without the promotion of a record label, the album was physically released on August 5, 2008 via Mercury Nashville Records. Under Mercury's promotion and distribution, the album has accounted for two singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. The first of these, "In Color", became Johnson's first Top Ten country hit when it peaked at number 9 in early 2009. On October 27, 2014, it was re-issued as a full-length album in the form of a Deluxe Edition to digital retailers with three newly recorded songs. Furthermore, the album was given a physical release exclusively to Target stores in the U.S. on the same date, with an additional two exclusive songs.
