The Cinemile is a film review podcast hosted by Dave Corkery and Cathy Cullen where they record their walk home from the movies.

Concept and history

The Cinemile is a two-person podcast. Launched in 2016, [1] it consists of conversations between a married couple from Cork, Dave Corkery and Cathy Cullen, on their walk home from the movies. [2] To celebrate the 100th episode of the show, Cullen and Corkery vacationed in Spain and reviewed The Shape of Water . [3] Launched when the hosts lived in London, the podcast is, as of 2022, made in Cork, Ireland. [4]

Reception

Miranda Sawyer of The Observer said the show is "suffused with charm and insight." [5] Josh Jones of LeCool London called the show "delightfully simple." [6] New Statesmen named the show "best new podcasts of 2017." [7] Henrietta McKervey from The Irish Independent called The Cinemile "podcast gold". [8]

The Cinemile has won a British Podcast Award [9] and an Irish Podcast Award. [10]

Rena Buckley is an Irish sportswoman who played at senior level for both the Cork county ladies' football team and the Cork county camogie team. She has also represented Munster in the Gael Linn Cup and Ireland at international rules. Between 2005 and 2017 she won 18 All-Ireland winners medals, making her one of the most decorated sportspeople in Gaelic games. In 2012 she captained Cork when they won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship and in 2017 she captained Cork when they won the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship. She was the first player to captain Cork to both All-Ireland senior championships. She was also named as an All Star on eleven occasions. In 2015 Buckley and her team mate and fellow dual player, Briege Corkery, were named joint winners of the 2015 The Irish Times/ Sport Ireland Sportswoman of the Year Award.
