The Citadel Bulldogs volleyball team represents The Citadel in the sport of indoor volleyball. The Bulldogs compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and the Southern Conference (SoCon), and play their home matches in McAlister Field House on the school's Charleston, South Carolina campus. They are currently led by head coach Dave Zelenock, who in 2018 led his first season. [2] [3]
The team was established in 1998 shortly after the integration of women into the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Volleyball was the first women's team sport established at The Citadel. [4]
On November 21, 2021, the Bulldogs completed a run through the Southern Conference Volleyball Tournament to claim their first championship, and also their first conference title in any women's team sport. The Citadel qualified for the 2021 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament. [5] [6]
In 2023, team program won 23 consecutive matches to begin the season, one of only two unbeaten teams in the nation to that point. They finished 27–3 overall, 14–2 in the Southern Conference, and earned the regular season conference title for the first time in program history. [7] Though they were defeated in the semifinals of the SoCon Tournament, the Bulldogs were invited to the 2023 National Invitational Volleyball Championship, where they lost to East Carolina in the first round. The Charleston Cougars are the varsity intercollegiate athletic teams representing the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. The Cougars compete in NCAA Division I and are currently members of the Coastal Athletic Association. The university sponsors 20 varsity sports teams including men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis; women's-only dance team, equestrian, beach volleyball, softball, track and field and volleyball; men's-only baseball; and co-ed sailing and cheerleading. The university's most successful sports are co-ed sailing, which has won 14 national championships since 1986, women's volleyball, which has qualified for the NCAA Tournament seven times since 2002 and men's baseball, which has qualified for the NCAA Tournament seven times since 2004.

The program is classified in the NCAA's Division I, and the team competes in the Southern Conference South Division. Ed Conroy is in his second stint as the head coach, having previously held the position from 2006–2010.

The Military Classic of the South is an American college football rivalry game played between The Citadel and the Virginia Military Institute. The first game between the two military schools was in 1920. The game has been played nearly continuously since World War II; since then, only five seasons have seen the game not played.
Fred Jordan is an American college baseball coach, who was the 26th Head Coach of The Citadel Bulldogs baseball team, located in Charleston, South Carolina, he held that position from 1992–2017. Jordan is a 1979 graduate of The Citadel.
The Citadel Bulldogs football program represents The Citadel in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Bulldogs play in the Southern Conference, as they have since 1936. The Bulldogs are coached by Maurice Drayton, who was hired on January 12, 2023, to replace Brent Thompson, whose contract was not renewed.
The Citadel Bulldogs baseball team represents The Citadel in college baseball. They are classified as NCAA Division I and play in the Southern Conference. The Bulldogs are led by Tony Skole, who began his first season in 2018. They made their one appearance in the College World Series in 1990. They are the first and through 2022 only military school to appear in the College World Series. The Citadel has claimed eight Southern Conference baseball tournament titles and produced seven major league players.

The 2013–14 The Citadel Bulldogs basketball team represented The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by fourth year head coach Chuck Driesell and played their home games at McAlister Field House. They played a member of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 7–26, 2–14 in SoCon play to finish in last place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the SoCon tournament where they lost to Wofford.
The 2014–15 The Citadel Bulldogs basketball team represented The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by fifth year head coach Chuck Driesell and played their home games at McAlister Field House. They played a member of the Southern Conference, as they have since 1936–37. They finished the season 11–19, 6–12 in SoCon play to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place. They lost in the first round of the SoCon tournament to Furman. Driesell was not retained after the season.
The Citadel Bulldogs baseball represents The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in college baseball at the NCAA Division I level. The program was established in 1899, and has continuously fielded a team since 1947. Their primary rivals are College of Charleston, Furman and VMI.
The 2015 The Citadel Bulldogs football team represented The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in the 2015 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Bulldogs were led by second-year head coach Mike Houston and played their home games at Johnson Hagood Stadium. They played as members of the Southern Conference, as they have since 1936. They finished the season 9–4, 6–1 in SoCon play to finish in a share for the SoCon title with Chattanooga. Due to their head-to-head loss to Chattanooga, they did not receive the SoCon's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs. However, they received an at-large bid to the FCS Playoffs where they defeated Coastal Carolina in the first round before losing in the second round to Charleston Southern.
The 2015–16 The Citadel Bulldogs basketball team represented The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by first year head coach Duggar Baucom and played their home games at McAlister Field House. Baucom was previously the head coach at military rival VMI. They again played as a member of the Southern Conference, as they have since 1936–37. They finished the season 10–22, 3–15 in SoCon play to finish in last place. They lost in the first round of the SoCon tournament to Mercer.

The Citadel Bulldogs men's tennis team represents The Citadel in the sport of tennis. The Bulldogs compete in NCAA Division I's Southern Conference (SoCon). The team hosts its home matches at the Earle Tennis Center on the university's Charleston, South Carolina campus, and are led by hall of fame coach Chuck Kriese. The Bulldogs claimed their only SoCon Championship in 1961. Individual Bulldogs have claimed 19 singles and 9 doubles at the SoCon championships.

They finished the season 11–21, 5–13 in SoCon play to finish in eighth place. They defeated VMI in the first round of the SoCon tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to UNC Greensboro.

Dave Zelenock is an American college volleyball coach, currently serving as head coach of The Citadel Bulldogs women's volleyball team. He previously served as head coach at Tennessee Tech.
