Anthony of Padua, OFM, or Anthony of Lisbon was a Portuguese Catholic priest and member of the Order of Friars Minor.
Saint Nicholas Day, also called the "Feast of Saint Nicholas", observed on 6 December in Western Christian countries, and on 19 December in Eastern Christian countries using the old church Calendar, is the feast day of Saint Nicholas of Myra; it falls within the season of Advent. Festas Juninas, also known as festas de São João for their part in celebrating the nativity of St. John the Baptist, are the annual Brazilian celebrations adapted from European Midsummer that take place in the southern midwinter. These festivities, which were introduced by the Portuguese during the colonial period (1500–1822), are celebrated during the month of June nationwide. The festival is mainly celebrated on the eves of the Catholic solemnities of Saint Anthony, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Peter.

The Church of Our Lord of Bonfim is the most famous of the Catholic churches of Salvador, in the State of Bahia, Brazil. It was built in the 18th century on the only line of hills in the Itapagipe Peninsula, in the lower town of Salvador. The church is the subject of intense religious devotion by the people of Salvador and is the site of a famous celebration held every year in January, the Festa do Senhor do Bonfim. The church is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bonfim. The church is noted for the Festa do Bonfim, held annually the second Thursday after Three Kings Day. The festival combines elements of both Catholicism and Candomblé. It was listed as a historic structure by the National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute in 1938.

The Film won the Crystal Lens Award for Best Feature Film at the 2nd Brazilian Film Festival of London.
Póvoa de Varzim Holiday, Saint Peter Festivals or Saint Peter Night is celebrated annually on June 29, Saint Peter's Day in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. It is a late midsummer festival and the last of the three Portuguese popular saints — Santos Populares. It is celebrated with the lighting of bonfires, dances, competitions between quarters and diverse parties. Saint Peter festival includes the "rusgas", in which inhabitants of one quarter (bairro) visit in a parade other quarters in the evening of June 28. Women are dressed as tricana poveira. Each neighborhood has its own festival, neighborhood colors and altar to Saint Peter.

Yemọja is the major water spirit from the Yoruba religion. She is the mother of all Orishas. She is also the mother of humanity. She is an orisha, in this case patron spirit of rivers, particularly the Ogun River in Nigeria, and oceans in Cuban and Brazilian orisa religions. She is often syncretized with either Our Lady of Regla in the Afro-Cuban diaspora or various other Virgin Mary figures of the Catholic Church, a practice that emerged during the era of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Yemọja is said to be motherly and strongly protective, and to care deeply for all her children, comforting them and cleansing them of sorrow. She is said to be able to cure infertility in women, and cowrie shells represent her wealth. She does not easily lose her temper, but when angered she can be quite destructive and violent, as the flood waters of turbulent rivers. Some of the priests of Yemọja believe that she used her fresh water to help Ọbàtálá in the molding of human beings out of clay.

Our Lady of the Rosary Parish is a Brazilian Catholic ecclesiastical circumscription located in the municipality of Pirenópolis, in Goiás, created in August 1736 with the establishment of Vila de Meia Ponte as a parish. Since its origin until 1745, it was part of the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Rio de Janeiro. Later, it became part of the Diocese of Goiás until 1956. Between 1956 and 1966 it was included in the territory of the Diocese of Goiânia, and from 1966 on, it has been in the Diocese of Anápolis, in Pastoral Region 03.
The Nicolinas are a series of festivities to honor Saint Nicholas that occur in the Portuguese city of Guimarães. Held between November 29 and December 7, they celebrate the old traditions and camaraderie of the inhabitants of Guimarães, predominantly among its students. The first known literary reference to the Nicolinas dates from 1664, the year after the construction of the Chapel of St. Nicholas in Guimarães, although historical evidence suggests that the festivities predate this time.
