The Farm: En Veettu Thottathil (also known as The Farm: EVT) is a 2017 Malaysian Tamil language dark slasher film. [2] The film is written and directed by Karthik Shamalan. [3] [4] The film consist an ensemble cast of Jaya Ganason, Mohanaraj, Mahesan Poobalan, Yugendran Maniam and Haridhass. The film is inspired by popular tale of Red Riding Hood, which gives a dark twist to the story, tells of the painful journey of a girl.

Contents

Prior to showing in local cinemas, the movie was screened at film festivals in Puerto Rico, Los Angeles and Mexico. [5] The film opened in Malaysia and Singapore cinemas on 28 Sep 2017 to positive reception. [6]

Plot

Inspired by the popular tale of Red Riding Hood, this Malaysian Tamil slasher film, which gives a dark twist to the story, tells of the painful journey of a girl. The Farm follows a hearing-impaired girl and her encounter with the various kinds of men in her life; one whose nice intentions hide a darker motive, one with bad intentions initially who later repents, and one who abuses women, which the director portrays as ‘an animal’.

The film's soundtrack is scored by Shameshan Mani Maran.

Thalli Pogathey is a 2021 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy drama film directed and produced by R. Kannan. It is a remake of 2017 Telugu-language film Ninnu Kori written by Shiva Nirvana. This film stars Atharvaa, Anupama Parameswaran and Amitash Pradhan. The film is produced by R. Kannan himself under the banner Masala Pix, in association with MKRP Productions. Gopi Sunder, who was the composer for original film, composed music for the film also. Selva RK and N Shanmuga Sundaram are the editor and cinematographer, respectively. Raj Kumar murugesan is the art director. The title is inspired by the song of the same name from Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016). The film released on 24 December 2021. The film received mixed reviews from critics with criticism for Anupama's performance, writing, emotional weight and characterization but with praise for Atharvaa's performance, cinematography, score and production design.

Adai Mazhai Kaalam is a 2023 Malaysian Tamil-language Romantic fantasy film directed by Karthik Shamalan. Shamalan also writes and cinemograph this film. The cast includes Loga Varman, Thia Lakshana, Jaykishen, Vicknes Rao, Velarasan, Evarani, and KS Maniam. The editing is handled by S Cape Imagination, and the music is composed by Shameshan Mani Maaran

Karthik Shamalan is a Malaysian Tamil film director. He made his debut with the Direct-to-video movie Melle Tiranthathu Kathavu before getting well known for directing highly acclaimed Malaysia Tamil film like Adai Mazhai Kaalam and The Farm: En Veettu Thottathil. The series that he directed for Astro Vinmeen HD, Kalyaanam 2 Kaathal became a big hit.
